I have to admit, IGN did a decent job for this April Fool's prank. They claimed that a movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda was nearly done, and premiered a trailer today. Now, I realised what the significance of the date was, and ditto with the release date. I'm almost completely certain that this trailer is a cleverly staged April Fool's joke.

However, it also shows what a Zelda movie might have been.

I couldn't possibly believe this is real. Ganondorf looks like a bad cosplayer. It is well produced though for a prank.

Well, the main character is a mute and dresses like a dork, and the main villain has dark skin. Those are the major points against a film adaptation. I can list more, if you like.

Might provoke claims of racism.

Okay, what would all you Zelda fans want to see in a Legend of Zelda movie?

you mean like resident evil 5 racism

yeah link would have to speak in a movie, why didnt they let link speak from the beginning of the zelda games, they really sealed his fate :? . now most people probably think it would be weird if he started talking.

Never knock the power of the paranoid or oversensitive mind. I don't think the Japanese have that much of a problem with racism.

He didn't talk because Nintendo wanted player's own interpretations of Link to be as they wanted.

They put a lot of effort into this, for a prank, and it looked decent for a live-action job.

I'd like to see Zelda done as a traditionally-animated movie (if they can do something high-quality). But damn it, don't make Link talk!

This still looks better than anything Uwe Boll's worked on.

I haven't heard yet what people would want for a Zelda movie. Or should I list what I want?

I think that basing it off any one game is a mistake. I mentioned this in the 'Last Person to Post Wins' thread, but I'll recap here:

I like the mangas though, link talks in them too. it might be good to model a movie after one.

I think Link should be a reluctant hero, but not a whiner. Instead, he's someone who does something because no-one else can or will. Like a more outgoing version of Frodo from Lord of the Rings.

I also think that Ganondorf should have a little more motivation. The Wind Waker was a step in the right direction, as it actually made Ganondorf more human. For example:

Quote:
Do you sleep still? Wait! Do not be hasty, boy... I can see this girl's dreams... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans... Oceans as far as the eye can see. They are vast seas... None can swim across them... They yield no fish to catch... What did the King of Hyrule say? ...That the gods sealed Hyrule away? And they left behind people who would one day awaken Hyrule?! How ridiculous... So many pathetic creatures, scattered across a handful of islands, drifting on this sea like fallen leaves on a forgotten pool... What can they possibly hope to achieve? Don't you see? All of you... Your gods destroyed you!

Quote:
My country lay within a vast desert, when the sun rose into the sky a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came the wind carried the same thing... Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose.

The could just have the villain be Ganon instead of Ganondorf. Ah, who am I kidding...Zelda wouldn't really work as a movie.

In other words, Ganondorf should be more than just a power-hungry megalomaniac, but someone who perhaps has a more reasonable reason for wanting the Triforce that has bloomed into megalomania.
