I was just wondering if anyone knew if there were any good FPS games to be released soon.

I'm really looking forward to Project Origin (sequel to F.E.A.R.) and I hear that Far Cry 2 is supposed to come out this year (though I have my doubts), but other than that, I don't know of many others.

I'm waiting for Half Life 2 Episode 3. I love that series of games, though generally I don't like FPS. I'm one of the few people I know that didn't like Bioshock or Halo. I liked Gears of War but found that I could only play it for short sessions due to its repetitiveness.

Thanks for the list. The Killzone and Resistance games really sparked my interest... but alas, I don't have a Playstation. :(

Ditto... In fact, I didn't even bother waiting for the stores to start carrying the Half-Life 2 episodes, I just paid and downloaded them through Steam as soon as I could. Unfortunately, last I heard they had a few snags with Episode 3, so it may not be coming out for a while. But I guess it's better to take their time with it than rushing it out the door.

Well, I'm personally psyched about Project Origin. But I think we're all forgetting this year's real star:

Time. Splitters. 4.

Alright, not really a great fps. But I'm sure it will be funny as hell.

I just checked the Id Software site... it says they're hiring people to work on Doom 4. That's interesting, because I kind of thought they were focusing their current attention on Rage. But I loved the Doom games and I'm hoping they really follow through on this one.

Resistance 2 will most likely be the best upcoming FPS especially if it supports 1080p resolution.

I get the feeling that they're being real half-assed with TS4 (and I'm a fan of the TS series in general)... regardless, we'll see...

There's an FPS coming out for DS that looks promising...it's called C.O.R.E...there's not much info on it, and it might just be hype, but it looks and sounds a lot like System Shock 2 \m/

I hope it turns out as good as it sounds...and it promises oldskool FPS mutliplayer, and that's never a bad thing.

Left4Dead...I saw a video of it the other night...they totally stole my ideas =(

Except in my game, the zombies move a lot slower.

Not going to let that discourage me from working on it, though.

Too bad (for me) that Left4Dead is another MP-based game. Of course, I was never a real big fan of zombies as the main enemy. I prefer "smarter" enemies who can shoot back at you. I also think it's much scarier when you have undead humans who've retained their intelligence, memories, and fragments of their former personalities, but have become blood-thirsty killers (and I'm not just talking about "vampires.") However, I do like it when zombies are used as one of many different monster types, like in Doom or Half-Life.

Another thing about Left4dead is that the zombies aren't all slow either.
You get fast zombies and zombies that apparently look slow but can charge at you (I know thats gonna make me jump the first time I encounter that).

It will be interesting playing with teamspeak active in the background with online mates roleplaying.
I can imagine it now, a kid on teamspeak squealing down the mic as if it was happening in real life (he does it to make people laugh, makes me laugh though).
