I've been quite interested in owning an Xbox 360 ever since my cousin brought his console to my house and played some Halo 3.

I was thinking about getting a Premium bundle when I have enough money to buy a new one. However, I'm also saving up for a laptop so that may interfere with it. Also, I own a Nintendo Wii and am hoping to get Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl.

There are some great games for the Xbox 360 that you can't get on the Wii. Should I get one, and 360 owners, what are your thoughts on the console?

Get a 360! Don't go below the Premium bundle, the Arcade bundle is useless.

The 360 is awesome. You should definatly buy one. A lot of good games come out for it as well. I don't think you will be dissapointed in it.

If you think you should, then do it.

I suppose the Nintendo Wii is great for games such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros, etc. The Xbox 360 is a great console for multi-platform games and online capabilities.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone had any of the Red Rings of Death on their 360? Have you had to send it back to Microsoft?

I love my 360, but take it from me, its flawed in design. You ABSOLUTELY must keep the machine well-ventilated (no enclosed spaces). I recommend an extra cooling device to help as for some reason the 360 produces ALOT of heat. And even still, there's no telling if its defective or not. I have 2, one working and one that doesn't. The older one I took to Iraq with me for a year, where it survived 2 power surges and a replaced DVD drive, is working fine. The newer one that stayed comfortably at home, safe and hardly used, died the very first time I tried to play Halo 3 on it (the dreaded 3 red rings of death).

So other than the fact that it has a shaky track record regarding bugs, its a great machine. The online play is phenomenal. The games library is AWESOME. PS3 is catching up, but still has a long way to go.

Best Buy this week has a $50 gift card with purchase of a 360 and GTA IV, good time to grab one.

The number of XBox 360 hardware failures is ridiculously high. You're best off waiting for a redesign if you really want one.

As for me, I have my computer and DS which provides all the gaming I need.

Don't get a 360 unless you want to play Halo 3 that badly... almost everything that is out for 360 is out for some other system (mostly PC, like with Mass Effect coming out soon...)

I would like to know if any of you have seen this:

Is there a possible way to fix this permanently?
