Anybody Sonic fans here like the opening theme from the game Sonic CD? I personally prefer the Japanese Sonic CD song "You Can Do Anything", but I like Sonic Boom sometimes. Which track do you prefer when the intro plays in the main screen?

Sonic Boom, but only because when I played Sonic CD, it was on the Canadian/America Sonic Gems Collection, so it had the American soundtrack. But I got nothing against You can do anything.

I would say Sonic Adventure 2 Battle... quite obviously the song most Sonic fans remember most of all.

Ha ha, yeah. I don't really prefer one over the other, but in general I like the Japanese soundtrack better.

I always heard the Japanese song was called "Sonic Warrior" or "Toot Toot Sonic Warrior," but I could be wrong. Either way, that's the song I love the most, though I've heard Sonic Boom plenty of times and still love it.

Actually, I think it's kind of funny that I prefer the American in-game stage music to most of the Japanese stage music.

I'm not a fan of You Can Do Anything. I like Sonic Boom, although I probably shouldn't

But I LOVE the Japanese soundtrack for Sonic CD. The American soundtrack is boring.

The American soundtrack is actually kind of good to me, as a fan of ambient stuff. I really like the US quartz quadrant music and whatever plays for Tidal Tempest, has a nice acid jazz thing going on with the voices (is that the right term? I've only listened to one acid jazz group). Metallic Madness sounds f*****g scary as hell in the US version too and actually gave me nightmares. Its so evil and diabolical and invokes lots images of a post-apocalyptic future that has been taken over by sentient machines, where everything green has been burned away. I also have to say the US Stardust Speedway is superior too, especially the bad future version. All the past and good future themes are the same as the Jap/EU version if I'm not mistaken.

With that said I still prefer the majority of Japanese tracks. Sonic Warrior is so bad yet good and catchy, Sonic Boom isn't a terrible song. I love Japanese Palmtree panic, the cheering part (YAY!! !) makes me think of a chorus of flickies cheering Sonic on and in the bad future version they're robotocized.

Yeah, I believe that most, if not all, of the past and future songs are the same.

That said, the rest ARE similar in a lot of areas to each other. The Japanese and American versions are different, sure, but if you listen closely, you can find some similarities and maybe some inspiration that lead to other songs.

Because I like making subjective lists based purely on taste I'll paste my favorite tracks from the US and EU/Jap version of Sonic CD, excluding You Can Do Anything (that would be redundant)

I'll start with EU and yes I'm cheating and adding in past themes, which are unchanged in both versions:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJyIoa25 ... ure=relmfu Chaos Collision Present fits the level really well too)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWUiDlMLzRU Tidal Tempest Present
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VibADcNg98[/youtube] Tidal Tempest Past
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgThnrxI ... ure=relmfu Quartz Quadrant Present 8)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkvBBMn8hZ4 Metallic Madness Good Future (reminds me of Advance Wars music)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgThnrxI ... ure=relmfu Stardust Speedway Past - way too awesome for its own good, easily one of the top themes off the soundtrack
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3c6TfY2J0o Most original boss theme ever
Now for the US version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3A8NG3RHofs Quartz Quadrant Present Both the EU and US versions get great music for this zone. Don't know which I prefer, probably edged out by the EU version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H1nIBllGDY Metallic Madness Present Sounds like computerized evil with no soul, the little instrument solo adds a really nice touch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj5oGfbqv1Y Stardust Speedway Present This is my favorite track from the US soundtrack. Really makes me think of a tranquil cloudless night on the backdrop of a lit up city. Its also one of the few themes in the US version that matches the level well. Too much of the US music is just too damn moody for a game that's about being fast.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_SooYyd5Z0 Stardust Speedway Bad future - Awesome, matches very well for the level and boss but I could totally go without the uber-cheesy "STARDUST OOOO OOOO" part.

Gotta be You Can Do Anything! The Japanese soundtrack is amazing!

Especial kudos goes to:
Stardust Speedway - Bad Future
Robotniks' Theme
Final Boss
