Yes I love playing poker. Self taught when the Travel channel started the WPT 5 years ago. Truly a magnificent game. I used to play heavily at party poker until the gestapo made it illegal for US residents to gamble online. Since then I have tried other poker sites but cannot get comfortable with any interface other than party.

I now play exclusively with my 5 yo aspie son at home. It is unbelievable how lucky he is so as soon as he is 21 I will take him down to Vegas to win the world series....or maybe downunder to win the aussie millions when he is 18.

Yep Texas Holdem all the way baby! I play online and have just started learning how to play tournament games mostly sit and go's. Played cash games before but mistakes were getting costly. I play only low stakes $2 and $5 dollar games.

I've played online and at the casino, but not for a long time though.

I was a professional SHLHE player for 2 years. I only played $10/$20. I haven't played in some time now, the UIGEA really hurt my EV and I found it better to get a job.

Oh a professional, very interesting, but can you tell me what all the abbreviations are?

SHLHE = Short Handed Limit Hold Em. Limit is the form of betting (You don't get to choose how big your bets are, and no "all-in" bets.) Short Handed means games with 6 or fewer players.

UIGEA is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, a law passed in the United States in 2006.

EV is Expected Value, or my rate of earn.

Ok that's interesting. Depressing about the law change. It's still ok here in the UK. I play no limit 10 player hold 'em, mostly single table.

Yeah, I've had a job for almost a year and a half now. It kinda sucks. I really had no idea how good I had it, lol. :O

If I went back to playing $10/$20, I'd like to have $32,000 in the bank. 1000 BB bankroll + 6 months living expenses. Guess I better start saving.

Man, I hope the UIGEA gets repealed. The games were so much tougher after it passed.

He he yeah I could see how working in a normal job must suck in comparison. If I were good enough I love to be able to play for a living, maybe one day. Thing is the more I learn about the game the more I realise how good the good players really are!

if you were running shlhe, you were already at the best +EV you can run....those tables mostly draw schmucks and amateurs who watch too much espn2.

edit: and the losers who watched rounders too much.

/never plays the brunson.
//or pocket rockets for that matter (i prefer to run open-ended)

re-edit: i meant the 10-2 brunson...though i never trust queens in my hand.
