just curoius, and I don't mean this to be rude, I see that alot of people here are obsessed with getting %100 percent. in a game.
this makes me feel like no one actually plays games becusase the games are fun,
but rather becuase they think they have to beat everything. I mean theres nothing wrong with beating a game, it's just that games are supposed to be fun, I find it hard to enjoy a game if all I do is try to find every collectable, or beat every extra mission. mainly becuase it gets frustrating.
for example, I often play Saints Row or Grand theft auto, just to drive around, (or fly aircraft) and occasionally I'll pick a fight with the luchadores or the Balla's. but I play it 'cuase its fun, it's not neccasery to beat everything, however... I try to unlock all the cars, characters, costums, and weapons. as far as I'm concerened if it doesn't unlock something worthwhile, then I don't feel a need to do it.
anyway, I know it's cool to get %100, but it's just to much to do, unless it gives you alot of new cars or characters...

now, what about favorite unlockables? or me, I love to unlock new cars or other vehicles.
but I also like, to unlock new characters. altough by far cars and vehicles are my favorite unlockables.

New characters are always my favorite unlockables. This goes for pretty much any genre: platforming, RPG, fighting, action, even sports. (in the latter, unlockable teams also apply)

I used to be one of those people who played games just to unlock everything 100%, but like the point you just made I've found that games just aren't as fun if you rush through them too quickly. Now I like to take my time and enjoy games, and I'll only bother unlocking stuff if it interests me and I think it's worth getting.

As for my favorite unlockables, I really enjoy things like extra outfits and characters. I'm not quite sure why I like them so much but I just think it's fun to play dress-up with my characters or play the game with a new character. I especially like sexy costumes for female characters in video games. :P

I used to love the upgrades you could get it Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Besides having great fun you also earn stronger weapons every few rounds. But i started to hate it alot. With BF3 i have to play another 500 or 1000 matches to get all the unlocks. And since i only play once every month that's alot of years.

To answer your question, isn't getting 100% fun too? I don't think a lot of people strive for 100% if they don't enjoy it.

I play for fun. Honestly, I could care less about beating a game.

The Seraphic Gate was a really cool unlockable in the psx jrpg, Valkyrie Profile. It was a super hard extra dungeon that let you use special characters from the story, two of which were antagonists at one point in the plot. You even fight hamsters (that kick your ass) there!

I liked unlocking the new jets in the Ace Combat games, especially 5. Lots of replay value there.

Pokémon Black/White 2 looks like its going to have lots of neat unlockables too!
