I just had a random thought, kinda wondering if anyone thought the same way as me, or if it's just me :-p

I was thinking about the "comforts" of video games. Sure, when you get a new game, you're not quite sure what to expect. Same goes for unlocking a new level, or stage. But I'd be willing to bet that people here besides me (read: not just me :-p) play certain video games a lot. It's comforting, isn't it, to know that--once you memorize the stage--that exactly at point x, bad guy A will jump out and attack you, so you'll be ready for it. I think video games have a lot to do with us liking routines.

Thoughts?

I often feel the same way about videogames. I liked playing Elite Beat Agents, because it became comfortable once I fell into the rhythm of the songs.

Um... to an extent, yes. Obviously, if I know exactly how a game is going to play before I've played it, then there's no point. But I do tend to stick to the FPS genre, because I know that 4 out of 5 times the game will be fun for me. And I typically won't buy a game unless I know something about it first.
