What games do you think have the best music in them. I mean oldschool game systems (nintendo '64 and before it) where the music was more "programed" and not like real songs recorded and put in the game. It's hard for me to describe. I love the music from zelda : a link to the past. Also the original marios 1, 2, and 3 for the 8 bit NES.

Tetris for the gameboy easily takes the cake...

Super Mario Bros is a close second though...

The old 2D Sonic games had great music. Last time I checked I had 139 songs from those games in my music folder. The Phantasy Star series on the Genesis had a couple of catchy songs too.

Old school Castlevania games had great tunes. (Well most still do)

A lot of SNES games had great tunes. The console had a great sound processor and most major developers made good use of it thankfully.

I live the title theme from jazz jackrabbit. Another old PC game with great music is fury3. Tyrian also has some great tunes.
