So I got spore it is a good game except two annoying problems

1.) The game keeps locking up in the space stage, especially when I am in a dogfight.
2.) I can register, seems it cannot connect to the main server.

Does anyone know why I am getting these errors??

Spore has a new SONY virus called SECUROM. :!: :!: :!:
You'd think that SONY would be out of the virus business since they got sued
by the whole world in 2005 for their music CD rootkit virus but apparently not.
The only way to get rid of SONYs viruses is to reformat your hard drive.
Antivirus programs don't work on them. Don't get Spore :!:

google search "sony rootkit" and also "securom" for more info

If it locks up at the same time and area all the time, you may want to post your computer specs. I have an idea what it could be, but I need those figures full bodied and hardcore

It never locks up in the same area, or at the same time but it does seem to freeze or crash during dogfights more than it does anything else. Also its never frozzen or crashed in any other stage other than the space stage.

In dogfights, are they a vast number of combatants on the map? I'm beginning to think your power supply may no longer be able to keep up with the power required by your computer. Without the specifications, I can not truly say. Power supplys do degrade after a year or so and their peak wattage drops

Did you download illegally? If not, can't help you...
If so, I sympathise with you.

Don't yell at me people, this is one game i'll probably pick up as for the Sporepedia... even if I don't agree with donating my cash to EA when they treat loyal customers like s**t with copy protection.

Their copy protection was cracked a few days before the game was even released... IT ONLY AFFECTS THOSE WHO BLOODY PURCHASE THE GAME!

As far as connecting to the server, make sure your firewall/ router allows access.

my game ocassionally shuts down in the space stage at random moments. often when theres not "alot" happening. it does get pretty anoying having to do the space tutorial more than once -_-. but still. i think its a pretty good game. whats your name on it?

I havent had any of those problems, and i purchased the game... I'll probably "creatively acquire" it later when my installation activations run out...

Edit: Ok it crashed on me last night in space phase...

Maybe it's due to lack of RAM. I have only 1 gig of RAM, and it sometimes locks up in the space stage, and my hard drive is very active, as it extensively uses the swap file. Maybe defragging the hard disk will reduce the likelihood of the game crashing (I defragged recently, and the game hasn't crashed since).

I got two gigs of ram, and I never have anything open except the game so that theory is shot, anyways it always has some kind of error message me thinks error with game code.

Made it to the center of the galaxy last night!

Now I'm paying for it by taking a weekend class with 3.5 hrs of sleep...

I got it, it's pretty good, not really had too many problems with it... with the exception of when I made landfall and then the game dumped me out.

They've expanded platforms for Spore too... you can get a special version for mobile phone and one for the Nintendo DS as well.

To be honest if you running 1GB in Dual Channel mode you will see a performance difference over a single module of memory versus 2 modules working together. I was amazed at the difference when I experimented. Dual channel for the win, TRI channel (coming soon) for the GOLD
