Any fans of the game of pain? I love paintballing, and I'm going next week as a birthday celebration, and to let off some steam on a stranger 8) . How comfy are you guys with the whole situation? From an outside perspective it's like an Aspies nightmare; Strange situation, unexpected 'touching' (at 300 ft/sec), all sorts of weird stuff going on, but at the same time, once the masks are on, you can be completely anonymous and so on. Opinions? Any cool stories?

I played for a few years, it just got to be too expensive for me at the time, and by the time I could afford to play I had lost interest. I think I had more fun tinkering with my gun off the field than I did actually playing anyway, I started off with an original model Spyder and replaced every part but the body of the thing over a few years. I sold that and bought a Palmer Typhoon, that was a great gun, but much harder to modify then the Spyder. I spent a lot of time and money building the most accurate long range gun I could, only to figure out that at heart I'm really a run and gun type of player, and that I made most of my best plays up close. If I ever get back into the game, I think I'll try to build the lightest and most cut down semi possible, so I can carry two of them and maximize my up close fire power.

I used to play weekly at an indoor facility near Seattle. I prefer the indoor game as everyone had to use the same guns.

You aren't talking about Bill and Jim's Excellent Adventure out in Factoria, are you? I used to go to that place all the time, it was the first place I played at. I had two problems with that place, for one, the really bent you over on the paint, if I recall they charged 10 cents a shot, and they turned the velocity on their guns way down. To me, this just caused a lot of bounces, which actually hurt more, and allowed people to cheat by wearing puffy clothing so nothing would break on them. I stopped going there after a few games where everyone but me was wearing those old school Starter jackets and nothing but a headshot would break on them, it was really frustrating. They went out of business not long after I quit going there, so I guess I wasn't the only one that had a problem with them.

Tried going once, but they made you buy $30 worth of balls to play, so we didn't end up going :x

I don't remember the name of the place, but that wasn't it. I didn't experience bounces. The worst thing I remember was the floor getting really slick after a long day of playing and that it was really easy to end up flat on your back if you changed directions too quickly.

I don't remember what they charged for paint either (was making really good money then). I want to say $.05/shot. We'd just give them a credit card and they'd run a tab for us.
