I may be wrong, but I haven't seen much (or any) discussion of Second Life around here, which surprises me. SL is so immersive, it seems like the ideal game (if you can call it that) for Aspies. You can socialize in a completely risk-free environment, be who and what you want to be, and if you find yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable, you can literally make yourself disappear and teleport someplace else. It's open-ended, so there's no winner, loser or object to the thing. You pretty much just do what you want to do. All the time.

I tried Second Life and it is a nice platform for Aspies. It has areas that are fun with other cool players. But I don't know if I'd call it risk free. There are those whose only purpose in the game is to make it miserable for others. I believe they're known as griefers.

Here's a video of one of the electronic clubs in SL. The DJ is mixing music live via the stream. The random noises are from the visitors.

Having been to more than few electronic events (e.g. Coachella) this is pretty close to what it's like.

I believe SL is totally free (no charge to download the software or monthly fees). Don't you have to pay for Entropia?

i meant afford as in an expenditure of time.

(and no, entropia is free too. no charge to download, no fees. but yes, most people that play do put money into it.)

When I played Second Life, I used it to try to explore my gender problems, and to mess around with the scripting system. On SL I could be female and try on clothes, and be referred to as female by others.

I learned a bit of their programming language and made an in-game SNES music trivia bot. I also found a bug in the server that let me copy any item I wanted and read others' locked scripts. Those two bugs have long since been fixed, but "copybot" exists now for copying.

I play second life every so often. Its good there is a few autistic groups and about 3 or 4 meetings for autistics/aspies every week.

Brigadoon on Wednesdays (Discussions on support and talk about each others experiences)
Autistic Liberation Force on Tuesdays (Mostly focused on autism activism and awareness)
Naughty Auties on Sunday and Tuesdays (Sunday is in Voice, Tuesday is normal but im not 100% sure it is tuesdays because its new)

I tried numerous times to communicate to those that run Brigadoon and got ignored.

It does cost money to play as well.

I didn't like it so much because it was unsettling that I could pick up an outfit and it changed me. One time I put on something it and I couldn't take it off at all, it turned me into an asian female with a catholic school girl outfit! Gah!

Then the whole purchasing of real estate with actual money, eh. One of the reasons I play MMO's is to own a house and collect things and decorate it. So just wandering around just wasn't much fun for me. Though, when I was a big green dragon flying, well, that was pretty fun.

I hate socializing in real life. I played Second Life once and I hated socializing there too. If I'm going to play a game, I'd rather be killing things and exploring dungeons than just talking.

I dont like socializing and spend most of my time on there building or scripting and this costs nothing. Everything you see on SL is created by the people playing it.

If I wanted to socialize I'd just go out...
I play games to escape from reality, not walk around in a pixelated version of it.

I don't know Darc. There's plenty of stuff in SL that wouldn't be classified as real. Having the ability to fly would probably be one of them.

I tryed it and I could not get past the tutoral island. I think it was bugged or something. I did 3 out of the 4 main tutorials. The movment one, it tells you to mocve to a spot on the ground. I do that and it does not tell me I completed it.

I just joined Second Life. I'm still stumbling around, trying to figure out how to navigate.
I found Brigadoon. Now what? There's nobody there.
Is there a particular place on the island where I'd be likely to find actual people?
Do they have any scheduled events these days? I didn't find anyone on Tuesday night.
What time would the discussion group be there on Wednesday? Does the "Autism Liberation Force" still exist?
