Hello there...Here I am with my first ever starting post in the Video Game related thread.
I don't know if this theme's been done before, and if it has, I don't mind if it's erased. But anyways, here goes...

Have any of you hardcore gamer guys and gals ever had a moment when, during a very emotional moment of a video game, you got teary-eyed...or even more boldly, actually cried?

The reason I ask this is because I myself, being a very emotionally caring, feeling, introverted person, have felt this way before with several games, the majority of them coming from RPG's.

Games that I've been teary-eyed over -

FF7 - Aeris's death and being laid to rest
FF8 - The tune "Fragments of Memories" at the start of disc 2
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - the death of Vulcan Raven (the background music helped a LOT in that department; in the original PSX version, I felt nothing at all)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - two words...'The Boss'...enough said :(

Games that actually made me sob softly -

FF3 (6 in Japan) - Celes' aria in the Opera House scene (I'll post a Youtube link to that moment later)
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - the death of Sniper Wolf (the PSX original made me only tear up, but the GC remake...those wolves howling for their fallen mistress...I lost it. )

So, how about it? Do you have any teary-eyed/weepy moments brought on by well-made video games that you wanna confess? I'll be here to listen. ^_^

As promised, here's that tear-jerking Aria that made me cry a river.

For me, the crying began at the "We must part now" bit near the end. :( :(

The storyline in Elite Beat Agents, where they're trying to cheer up a girl who's dad died in a sudden car accident. I posted about that when Nintendo had bulletin boards, and a lot of other girls were very upset by the idea of their dad dying. So it was like a internet bawl-fest, I still don't want to play the game cause it's way too sad. Video Games are supposed to make you happy, not remind you of worries. Even though it was a game based directly off a Japanese game, and perhaps they have a different way of dealing with grieif there or whatever.

Yeah, kind of -feels embarassed-

Teary eyed:
Metal Gear Solid - Sniper Wolf's death

Metal Gear Solid 4 - When Crying Wolf is carried away by that wolf, and Otacon says 'Welcome home Wolf'. That just kills me every time ^_^;;

Cried:
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - Sniper wolf's death

God that was awful. The original just made me alittle teary eyed, but I did cry when I watched the remake. It was just so sad, the music, those wolves, the whole thing!

That's really sad on it's own account.

Well, yes! In Japan, they're not afraid to tell the whole story, even if it has painful moments. Lots of superhero genre movies from Japan have such bittersweet endings, where the hero sacrifices himself for the good of all. I'm finally glad some recent American movies are starting to think on the same wavelengths: 'Armageddon' and 'Transformers' are great examples.

But anyway, them Japs really pour their work, sweat and tears into making beautifully made, tear-jerking storylines into even their video games...they realize that happiness cannot exist without its polar opposite of sadness.

Just my thoughts 8)

I have not played a lot of Japanese games, but I want to. Story and gameplay matters over there.

The only game that brought a tear to my eye was System Shock 2. Such a fun and unique game made me so sad when it was finally over.

Not crying per se, but there are a couple of bits in COD4 that get pretty grim and depressing.

I haven't cried during an emotional moment of a videogame, yet.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater almost made me cry, I got teary-eyed at the end of the game :(

Kingdom Hearts 1 ending, and also the part where Sora stabs himself with the keyblade to save Kairi, that gets me every time.

The Silent Hill series has a lot of sad moments too, especially Silent Hill 2 with the video tape.

The Final Fantasy X ending, and the part in Final Fantasy VIII where Squall and Rinoa are on the airship and it plays "Eyes on Me" =(

Wow man. you might want to vague that up a bit so as to not spoil it for anyone... considering the game is new and all. o_o

The ending of Half-Life 2 Episode 2. It got to me personally, because I had recently lost a close family member.
