I have quit 3 times, each time I have returned after about a 4 month hiatus.

The good news is I am able to truly play casually now. I am guildless on purpose and have no pressure to play a lot. I play purely for the enjoyment.

Anyway...

70 troll holy priest
72 tauren feral druid
60 draenei resto shaman
70 orc MM hunter
60 night elf shadow priest
+ about 5 characters in the 40+ range
+ about 30 lower characters (lol I wish I were kidding)

I am having fun with my death knight, after beta I honestly didn't think I'd like the expansion( I played there with a friend who absolutely had to make it to 80 as fast as he could) but I am having quite a lot of fun. I also found just soloing and trying to never involve other people increases ones enjoyment immensely. I've also taken up multiboxing, which I find a fun challenge that doesn't involve others. I pay for my subscriptions doing portraits of other people's characters.

There's a guy who has been able to 36-box, aka run entire raids solo.

I go through phases with WOW I'll play it non stop for a couple of months then get bored and not play for a few months. I have a 55 orc warrior on on server but a friend started on another server and wanted me to play with him. So I started there and have a 34 orc hunter.

I left in August, then returned this week. I'm rerolling rogue.

I had a 70 hunter and druid who both were in Sunwell when I quit.

I returned to find raiding has been destroyed, the content is far too easy (found this out from several friends who still raid, who I raided with.) Hearing about all the nerfs they did to high end bosses after I left enrages me. Me and my guilds worked hard to progress through that content at breakneck speed, and I know from personal experience, anybody who couldnt clear that stuff was an idiot. All it took was a little smarts and not having baddies in your raid. I tanked all of the druid tankable bosses in BT in almost full t4 level gear... BEFORE all the nerfs to these bosses.

While I understand that Blizzard wants everybody to see this content they worked hard on, I think it is rediculous to nerf these bosses THAT much. If I knew they were going to do that I wouldnt even have raided in the first place. I could save a BUNCH of time, and still see the content, athough I would miss out on all the time spent with all these cool people I raided with, and having fun downing challenging bosses before they were a joke. If they keep things as easy as they are now, EVERYBODY will get through it all and have nothing new to do, and just quit. I've seen it happen in the hardcore guilds I was in. We downed all the available content, and everybody got really sick of it pretty fast, so people started quitting left and right, or they rerolled, or they just went pvp.

That is why I'm going to be focusing on PvP this expansion. Raiding, to me, is dead. They can nerf bosses and classes all they want, but they can't nerf people, which means I can face off against challenging people all I want without worrying about them nerfing them.

I realize not everybody has the time to raid and all that, I fall in that category currently, but even if I did have the time I wouldn't be raiding right now. I know that I'll get to see the content anyways, because I know this stuff is going to be puggable sooner or later, if it isnt already.

You know, Atmosk, you could try slowing down and actually doing some fraction of the RP portion of the game. Read the flavor text on quests, try to figure out how you might react if you were in your character's position...

The one time we sat up until the wee-smalls playing WoW here, was when my wife and I wound up on the series of quests for the old hermit Abercrombie in Duskwood. When we learned that he was in fact the Embalmer, and we had contributed to his ability to attack Darkshire with a massive undead monster, she felt played, and angered. It was 1:30 am already, but she refused to shut down and go to bed for the night until we had taken the SOB down! (Fortunately, we got lucky during the battle with the Embalmer's Wife - we weren't technically high enough level to fight her and her companion, but we were both paladins, and the Embalmer's Wife made a couple of tactical errors.) Good times, good times...

We still haven't gotten above the mid-30s in level, nor have we participated in a single raid. We're just having fun, and playing the game. You should give it a try sometime! :)
