I think I most likely am in the minority of the gaming world, because I would much rather play games like Halo 3 and both Gears of War games in co-op than jumping into the every-man-for-himself world of deathmatch. One of the funnest times I ever had playing a game was going through both Gears of War 1 & 2 with my cousin, and defeating both of those games with good company.

If anybody in interested in doing some co-op with me through XBox Live, please do not hesitate to send me a PM.

So, what do you prefer? Friendly Co-Op or Opressive Deathmatch? Hehehe.....

it really depends on who im playing with and what mood im in. If im playing with someone who I know to be way worse then me at the game, Id much rather do deathmatches(online obviously because a 1vs1 against someone way worse then me would be boring). If they are of approximate skill level to me, then coop is where its at. It just gets frustrating when Im trying to go through coop and my ally constantly dies. Ex. In gears of war, Ill be staying back a little bit, crouched behind a barrior, popping up for a second to shoot at someone and then go back down. My ally chooses to rush the enemy and gets killed out in the open. Awesome... Now I have the option of 1 manning it or rushing into a wide open spot to try to resurrect my ally. Frustrating... Also, if I'm in a perticularly aggressive mood, Ill always choose deathmatches and such for the competitiveness of it. I might take you up on the coop offer once I get xbox live again. Mine just ran out and I'm inbetween jobs atm so I cant afford to pay for more.

I understand where you are coming from, kalantir.

My skill level at these games are about average - as in, I can get through "Normal" in the story mode of GoW2 by myself with little trouble.

But, to me, co-op is less about the skill level of who I am playing with, and more about me and somebody else having fun with each other. My cousin kept on getting killed, but then again, so did I. It was no big deal to either of us, we were just laughing every time that happened and having a blast regardless. To me, that is the ultimate co-op experience. :-)

well, the thing with skill level is... when you play with someone who's more skilled then you, you can often adapt to their play style and become a better player very quickly. For some reason, some people have no problem with this, and other people seem incapable. The main thing with games like GoW in harder difficulties is you have to learn to take things as slow as you need. Try to rush that group of 15 enemies without some serious firepower and/or some kind of cover and you'll just get killed. I would say my skill level in games like that is above average, but not amazing. I mainly play RPG's and such.

Same here, my social anxiety and fear of people judging the way I play prevents me from playing in multiplayer at all. I guess I just feel better in the company of AI-controlled monsters than actual humans.

As far as FPS goes, deathmatch is fun sometimes (or teamplay, or CTF, or runes, or...I think you get the picture ;)...but I much prefer coop.

Unfortunately, most FPS either don't have coop, or have a very poor coop =/

At least there's always the first two DOOM games =D Best coop ever, seriously.

Well this is a good subject, if I am over a friends and say playing Killzone on PS3 which I have neither, and therefore have little skill I prefer to do co-op, to him slaughtering me. With other for example, on Halo 3 on Xbox360 which I have both, I could enjoy either. Playing co-op can be fun and does not get realy old, as you are working for team goal and go at your own speed. Me and my brother often have different skills, and different styles so it can be fun to try things together. But in many games, like Smash Bros, I do enjoy doing a lot of deathmatches, the main reason for this is the human factor, being that I am fighting humans and not computers. Humans can be a lot more fun then computers, and it is so fun to mess with them, as aparently I have a skill psychological fighting. Also I love the feeling of whilst on a Halo 3 death match and useing my instincts in trying to figure out what they will do, or being the tough hunter that can come out of no where and just mow them down (my gamertag is DuskyPredator). One of my favirouts is giveing the feeling that no one is near them but I have actualy grabbed invisibilty and I am right in front of them, and even though they sense me on motion sensor I they will sudenly get hit in the back and I wonder what they are thinking on the other end. Or many the times where I might in a team deathmatch, and I am observing things, then I get the feeling something is not right, as if by instinct I will go somewher that might appear to others as an unlikely spot, but I figure it is the perfect spot to attack us and then I tell my team about the ambush. A very good memory I have is where I joined a team of people where I happend to be the best and in several matches I got a lot of praise, and my personal skills made me feel like I was god. I hate suciders and hiden snipers, or those times where a group works so hard at working together they just make it no fun. Though haveing some co-op with people have been great ways to truley know someone, like my affinity for assault rifles, snipers and fuel rods, or my brothers carbines, sniper, mauler and spiker or even a friend of mine useing battle riffle, swords and rockets.

What about team vs? Like Team Doubles on Halo 3. Or Capture the flag, team slayer, etc... Those are competitive and cooperative.

Did Killzone 2 come out??!

I've just recently realized that I love FPS games, but I know that I don't really like deathmatch (I loathe Smash Bros!) so I usually just play single player through the story. No one else I know really likes FPS so the only one I've played co-op is TimeSplitters 2 for the GC years ago with my brother and once again since with a friend. I love that game.

I actually love co-op games in general, but I only like playing with my one video game buddy. Over the course of a few weeks we went out and bought and beat every single co-op game for the Wii that we could find. Found some pretty great ones we hadn't even heard of.

Co-op is all about teaming together and planning. Your team could be under attack, someone has a plan to attack the enemy, but... someone has to distract their fire and draw it away from the team. Will that person be you, risking your own character for the sake of the team? If you survive you can help repel fire and move against them.

Co-op HAS to be played on super hard mode. More of a challenge that way, and loads of fun with fire, shells going everywhere, getting surrounded - fantastic.

Death match can be fun, but can depend on the map. Usually more fun to have people of all skill levels. Learn new tactics, strategies to become a better player.

Team death match, loads of fun, try get a higher score compared to your team mates, it's how I keep things entertaining. I have to be in the lead and it drives motivation.

Any sort of death match maps are better if you set a time limit, or kill score. If there are loads, then it becomes tedious. Something like 45 minutes to an hour for loads of people is good. Maybe a limit of 500 kills can be reached in this time, even with a veteran player, I kicked his ass

Capture the flag. not what I am keen on really. I will happily play some games such as Mario Kart 64, I was playing this for hours with my friends. This was when it was not long released

The best multiplayer experiences I ever had were on the N64. Good times.

I prefer the Co-Op. I've never really liked the Lone Wolves style matches. But yeah, I might be able to do some co-op in a few days.
