NOTE: THIS THREAD, BY ITS VERY NATURE, WILL BE RIFE WITH SPOILERS. DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE IN ANY WAY PUT OFF BY SUCH SPOILERS FOR ANYTHING.

There... you've been warned...

Anyway, I just wanted to get a feel for what your favorite ending to a video game is, and why...

My favorite probably belongs to Fallout 3, specifically the ending where the player chooses to enter the irradiated chamber, as it reminded me so much of Spock's death in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. The runner up would probably be the Tassadar's death in Starcraft, while an honorable mention goes to basically every Bioware game ever made, as they tend to do a good job on storylines within their games... although I've only played 2 of them (kotor and mass effect), I get the idea that such is carried across all their products...

nothing more than a reminder to not post serial codes or copyrighted material while having fun with your spoilers, etc.

Monkey Island ... where the game says... "You've finished... now turn the computer off and go to bed".

It was appropriate since I finished in the early hours of the morning.

Did I advocate such? That makes no sense at all, and is not even related to the thread topic...

Final Fantasy VIII and Metal Gear Solid 3. In the former, you're actually hoping Squall can survive. The latter is the only video game ending to have made me cry, because, although I knew from the get-go what more-or-less was coming up, Naked Snake's emotions, as well as that of EVA's come through.

I second MGS3, which also happens to be my favorite in the series.

Illusion of Gaia for the SNES.

It's hard to explain because you can't really feel the magnitude of the ending without having gone through the entire game and experienced everything you and the NPC's have. It's one of the few RPG's where I didn't mind it being so heavy on plot because the story was so great and the characters were so well-developed and likable. You feel genuine emotion when something happens to them.

That and during the credits when it recaps all the locations you visited with that epic MIDI orchestra, you feel like you really accomplished something and leave feeling satisfied.

Kingdom Hearts still has one of the best endings to a video game for me.

Also, I really like the No More Heroes ending for some reason too.

I'll have to go with Shadow of the Colossus. The ending to that game was so powerful and emotional. What happens to the main character at the end was a shocker for sure.

Pity it got too hard for a non-gamer with limited patience like myself to finish it. (sigh).

I actually enjoyed the "endings" to both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. ;)

THIS POST CONTAINS ENDINGS TO CRACKDOWN WHICH MOST OF YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT HAVE SEEN AS CRACKDOWN IS A HARD GAME. I ALSO HAVE BOTH GEARS GAMES. YOU GOT WARNED.

The end to crackdown is my favourite when you SPOILER HERE find out the the agency was financin these gangs just so they could make your super character.

Seconds is gears of war 1 & 2. at the end of gears one, SPOILER HERE after you detonate the lightmass bomb, and dom just says "Doin anythin tomorrow?". Also, after it turns out the locust survived.

Gears 2 when SPOILER HERE You see jacinto sinkin and all the locust drownin, and then the queens voice comin back over the narritive, settin us up for gears 3.

i never watch cinematics if i can click through them.
if i can not click through them, then i try to shoot the person talking to me, or i just look around at the scenery while they mumble away. after the cinematic has ended, i save the game so i do not have to endure the cinematic again.

i just finished "brothers in arms" and there was some patriotic matesy cinematic ending and i ctrl-alt-del'd to end the game there.

i laugh at instructive cinematics where there is a cinematic before a level with a general telling you what to expect.
i just say "yep!! ! gotcha!! !!" after his first word and then press what ever button i need to end the cinematic and get to the action.
