...
Something rubs me the wrong way about the question "Do you like video games?" Video gmaes are too various in their styles and natures to sum all of them ever made into one hobby. That's like asking someone if they like movies instead of asking to like specific movies.

As for me, I've been playing a lot of games made by Valve lately.

Old Intellevision games of various kinds.

Thief for Xbox.
The Myst series.
I never could get to the end of Final Fantasy, I'm usual bored with the battle scenes half way.
Halo ~.~ oh why does my xbox have to be broken. sigh.

They are my life. Shooter, racer, RPG, fantasy, its all good. Apart from games with terrible AI and just poor effort.

I like both final fantasy and breath of fire series. I also like'd crono trigger. more recently i am playing the witcher,oblivion,fallout3, but I also liked vampires masquerade bloodlines, star craft, command and conquer, mechworrior 4 mercenary's, solder of fortune 2, morrowind, never winter nights and all its expansions (except the cheap bundles that only added a few mods to the content), and neverwinter nights 2. knights of the old republic one and two. Im forgetting a lot.

If you want the best picks for replay oblivion morrowind, mechworrior 4 mercenary's, never winter nights once you have the expansions, and fallout, and knights of the old republic one and two.

If you havent gessed it I am a RPG fan to be certen bethesda and bioware rule!! !! !! !! !! !! micro soft bought the electronic rights to my fave role playing game makers games before they sold the penand paper versions of them whene going out of bissness (fasa made the mechworrior and shadowrun series of roleplaying games)
that made me remember the old SNES shadow run game, and how disappointed when I found out how they made a shooter on shadow run rather than an RPG and it was exclusively online 'multyplayer' YUCK . I cant get in to the typing while I play, exept for mechworrior cus it is a Mecha combat simulator and I can use a joy stick for most of the functions when configured.

First and foremost I have been addicted to RPGs since I was about 11 or 12 years old. My favorite series are Suikoden and Final Fantasy. I also enjoy adventure (Thief, Tomb Raider, Beyond Good & Evil, Fable), exploration (Myst), and some of the sillier just-run-around-and-collect-things games (Jak & Daxter, Crash Bandicoot). I am not big into action games. I have a tendency to feel motion sick shoot-em-up games even though I don't get motion sickness otherwise.

I doubt that someone who doesn't like video games would go into the 'Games and Video Games' section.

You know what's really fun? Going into a forum about dogs, and then making a poll "Do you like dogs?"

Then sometimes, when I really want to have a good time, I go into a forum for Oprah and make a poll "Do you like Oprah?"

I'm sure there's a few people here who only play board games/card games/etc...but they're probably hugely overwhelmed by all the videogame threads.

I can't answer the poll.

I like video games, but just not really that into them as much as most players. As far as modern gaming goes I have an Xbox 360 and GTA IV, and I'm set. I play them occasionally. So in a way, I don't get bored with them.

What I absolutely hate about video games, is that a certain percentage of gamers are completely obsessed and do not do anything else. And the younger section of those types of gamers will develop a moody attitude over them. I even just recently thanked my dad for not letting me have video games around when I lived with him, which was till I was 12, and I'm 19 now.

I like video games, but something tells me that he old games are better than the newer ones. I mean, there are still some good new games like the Gears of War series and God of War series, but most games these are more about graphics and not enough original story. I mean, isn't that why we play games beside them being fun because we're actually interacting with the story and not watching or reading it. I may get blasted by a bunch of hardcore gamers, but to me I want to experience the story first. Maybe gameplay second. But the graphics, while good these days, should be considered a minor element. Imean, the classics and the WIll don't have good graphics, but do we consider them bad games because they don't look realistic? No, we don't. We like them because of the gameplay and the story. Chrono Trigger for example might suck with graphics in oday's time, but people still play it. Why? Because they like the characters and the story in general.

Sorry for ranting, but a game should be another form of storytelling just like a movie or fiction or ghost tales. Just my opion, but just trying to make a point to.

I prefer gameplay over story...I hate when I try to get into a game, and they make me watch 30 minutes of cutscenes before I can even get going. I completely lose patience and turn it off :x I liked back in the day, like Legend of Zelda, they'd just toss you right in there, and say "Have at it." If you wanted to know the story, that's what the instruction manual was for.
