I watched an interesting part of a film yesterday. I'm sure some of you are familiar with the movie Constantine. It proposes an interesting idea as a kind of extra in the plot, that things like alcoholism, smoking and such are forms of suicide and if you 'do' them, you'll go to hell. (this is weaved within the main characters story as he smokes 30 a day and knows he will go to hell for it)
I wondered if it is possible. Surely you don't mean to kill yourself, so its not a form of suicide?
what do you think?

Sounds silly to me, I'm pretty sure its not suicide unless your trying to kill yourself.

Whether it's suicide or not, lung cancer isn't fun - either for the one who has it, or their family.
I don't know what the odds are of developing it, but I would rather not take the risk.

Though in terms of taking risks, I often jaywalk, however being hit by a car is a lot less painful way to go compared to the months of pain and gradual shutdown of one's body.

Is fast food a form of suicide? Of course not, it's a form of indulgence.

If there is no intention to kill one's self then it is not suicide. It is dangerous and foolish self indulgence, but not suicide as such.

No it isn't. People who do it expect to come down safely. It is dangerous, but it is not suicidal. Suicidal means there is an intent to kill one's self.

If they are the cause of you death and the person wants to die sure, but if bus loses control and runs up on the sidewalk and smashes the head into a zillion little pieces then no.

Only if you consider jumping a four-wheeler over a house suicide. Sure, some people do it because they want to die, but mostly, it's just natural selection.

No smoking is not a form of suicide (unless the practitioner is one f****d up dude that wants to die over several decades  )
I believe smoking and all other obvious harmful behaviours are a external realisation of a lack of self respect and self love. Or put another way they are symptom of self loathing
