Unless I am feeling anxious, I'm usually good with metaphors and allegories, but that one went over my head.

1) Punctuation would have helped - I can infer the commas, but it takes more work.
2) It alludes to another thread where someone was anti-quack (and possibly anti-duck!).

I'm assuming he is refering to Orwell's book 1984 in which 'duckspeak' refers to either something nonsensical or dedicated politically acceptable statements. Very Orwellian

Ducks are an allegory for life itself... very philosophical.

"If quacking means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."

"Ducks can only be happy when they do not assume that the object of life is to be roasted."

"All animals are equal but some ducks are less equal than others."

" Ducks should always be judged guilty until eaten. "

As someone who helped a flock of about 200 ducks get through the last Finnish winter into the more habitable times of the year I have small sympathy for someone who can only be interested in their edibility.

Allegory is a figurative mode of representation conveying a meaning other than the literal. Allegory communicates its message by means of symbolic figures, actions or symbolic representation. Allegory is generally treated as a figure of rhetoric, but an allegory does not have to be expressed in language: it may be addressed to the eye, and is often found in realistic painting, sculpture or some other form of mimetic, or representative art, or in ordinary objects used in particular ways.

Consider Daffy Duck's public relations allegory for the Beijing Olympics:
http://underthejacaranda.wordpress.com/ ... ch-script/

Or consider David Glazman presentation: "Ducks and Ducklings - An (X)HTML Allegory" which was presented at the W3C-AC Meeting in Tokyo in 2006.
http://swik.net/W3C/Del.icio.us+W3C+Tag ... gs+-+An+(X)HTML+allegory+W3C+AC+Meeting,+Tokyo+2006/cdgws

When it comes down to it, ducks represent a great deal more than the average person would suspect.

I was just delivering some documents to a govt office, and there was a flock of 60 large geese that came through the parking lot ... very scary. A friend was attacked by a goose in our parking lot. Ducks don't do that - which proves my point.

I know what an allegory is.... I've had my philosophy classes in college =.= I was merely wondering how would a duck fit in an allegory at all. <.<
