Alright, I noticed in one of the threads a mention of love spells and magik. I figured, since we followers of Wicca are most associated with the metaphysical, why not open myself up to questions! I'll answer honestly and the best I can.

Have you explored any other options other than Wicca? Maybe OTO or Golden Dawn or IOT or Thelema?

If I become a wiccan do I get to dance naked around a bonfire and indulge in wild sexual orgies?

If you find the right crowd.

Also, to the OP: it's "magick".

I have tried others. I explored Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, even Judaism, but I felt that Wicca fit the best. It just makes more sense to me. I do believe a supreme being, like an overall Goddess, but I also believe in deities that control each aspect of Nature. But what really turned me to Wicca was the understanding of how everything works, how nature works. For example, a caterpillar that turns into a butterfly. That entire process is like a miracle to me. This is one of the Wiccan "Mysteries".

That's a myth. Most Wiccans are solitary and those in Covenants don't have crazy sex orgies. Very, very few, if any Wiccan traditions involve actually having sex. The closest we might go and this really depends on the Covenant or your preferences, is performance of ceremonies Skyclad, or in the nude. This, mind you, is in no way meant to initiate sex within a group. I do pray Skyclad, but I am a solitary worshipper. We view sex as a beautiful thing between a couple as a symbol of love and pleasure.

Sex and, more specifically, sexual fluids are key to many rituals in other disciplines.

As far as the question I asked...I meant more along the lines of other magick disciplines, not other religions.

Ahh! I believe I understand now. No I have not tried either of those. I believe the most effective magick comes from Nature. I just felt more comfortable performing rituals in the ways of Wicca.
Most magick organizations have a set way to do things, while Wicca basically says, as I have interpreted all the books written by Scott Cunningham, as well as what I learned from my mentor, Silent Moon, there right way to worship is your way so long as blood is not spilled.

IOT has set rituals but the overall practice and concepts of Chaos magick aren't as concrete.

What are the beliefs of Wicca, and what are the metaphysical ideas within Wicca? (Metaphysical as in beings or entities or concepts or powers that impact the physical world or explain it.)

This doesn't have anything to do with beliefs I guess, but...do you know many males that practice Wicca? It just sort of popped into my mind that I've only known females that are Wiccan

Sorry, that's sort of random.

We as Wiccans believe that all nature is sacred. I'm not talking like super-tree hugger Na'vi type sacred. Not that extreme, but we believe that everything that exists in nature has some sort of purpose. Think of it as a revived version of pre-Christian beliefs that originated in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. We believe there is a single power defined as the One or All, which is composed of everything it has ever created. This supreme energy force does not rule over the Universe, it IS the Universe. Since most find it difficult to talk to or call upon a faceless mass of Divine energy, this supreme power is personified into male and female aspects as the Goddess and God.

As for the metaphysical ideas, we believe that all living things have an energy field, or simply an Aura. Think of it as a halo of our soul. Sometimes, these can affect those who are able to sense other's aura due to a high perception. We do believe in spirits and such. I am one of those unfortunate few who are able to sense the presence of the dead. Not saying like some physic who claims she can communicate with them, but just their presence. A good example was when I went to St. Augustine with a few friends. We we passing by the cemetery and I wasn't even hearing anything odd. I got the sense that I was suddenly freezing, when it was about 88 degrees outside. Spoke to my mentor, Silent Moon about the experience and she was shocked. She informed me it was my ability to sense loose spirits.
Power wise, I assume you must mean Magick. When a wiccan performs a ritual, it's not the magic you think of a cheap stage performer doing. Our Magick affects our Aura, our being. You can use it on others, but you will suffer the Rules of Three due to breaking the Rede. We draw our power from Nature herself. Though really we borrow it as once we have done what was needed, it is returned back to Mother Earth.

Yes, there are. I'm a male who practices. A good rule of thumb. Never call any Wiccan a Warlock. We actually find it insulting and it literally means "Oath Breaker". But yeah, there are males who do worship the Goddess although a majority of Wiccans are female.

I find that fascinating, actually. It's somewhat reminiscent of Dionysian cults of ancient Greece, many of which were predominantly female. I'm sure, of course, that practitioners of Wicca are far less destructive than Maenads or Bacchantes.

Very much so. We tend to live quietly and keep our beliefs to ourselves because of persecution and fear of such. None of our rituals involve blood, in fact, any blood spilled in a ritual null and voids whatever you were trying to do.

Why is the vast majority of Wiccans female? What is it about Wicca that seems to appeal more to females than males?
