To be fair, that is in Christianity as well. The last part was used by the founder of Mormonism as an argument for reintroduce Polygamy in (white) christian culture & practice polygamy in the USA. As in the founder was caught in adultery with his first wife, and he claimed the angel Moroni said he could marry MULTIPLE people, and got past the law that way......(well he was already a minster & had some following by then so......)

Thats interesting about the Mormon founder (Adam Smith?).
Me and a lady on another website got into a conversation about that "Sister Wives" show on Discovery. She asked "how did polygamy get started with the mormons, did they have a shortage of men in Brigham Young's time or what?" I didnt have an answer. Now I have one!

Maybe ill start a new religion that sanctifies the illegile downloading of music!

polygamous mormonism, now THERE'S an aspie (male) friendly religion.

"these are the rules. i'm in charge. stfu. if you all behave, i get to be a god after i die."

While I am not a fan of mormonism either, I don't recall mormons strapping bombs to children and remotely detonating the children in marketplaces.

not a fan of mormonism? why don't you like mormons?

I don't agree with the religious view of mormonism, I have nothing against people whom happen to be mormons, in fact I have a few friends that are mormon. I just don't agree with their religion on various issues, I don't have any hatred or ill will towards them. I also have a problem with the polygamy (to be fair most mormons do not practice this).

as i understand it, polygamy's been out of style in mainstream mormonism for a while. mormonism is quite different from most christian sects, though. why would these people believe such silly interpretations of your scripture? that doesn't cause you to doubt their judgment at all?

I'm going to let God sort it all out, it is not my place to do so.

if only more people who claim that sentiment actually acted on it...

that really doesn't address the final question, however. unless you're saying that you don't feel it's your place to question anyone else's judgment.

somehow, i don't think that's how you feel about that particular subject.

*shrugs

I just think I disagree with them on whether or not their book is actually the word of god or the word of someone trying to justify his sinful behavior. That said, I'm not going to judge them as being evil people over it.

I also don't think all Muslims are evil, just that the crackpots blowing themselves up and using children as bombs happen to be Muslim. So we shouldn't be wasting are time focusing on Nuns.

Mind you dont confuse Christendom Christianity with God and Jesus.
I have nothing to do with Christian religions for similar reasons as you, for a start they dont really follow the Bible as much as the "doctrines of men", I think they tend to be self righteous and seeing somebody less perfect than themselves makes them feel they are nearer to the perfection they belive God wants.

A study of the Bible though will revile the opposite to be true.

For instance, Jesus said the unworthy sinner who tore his clothes and asked God to be gratious to a miserable sinner like himself, was more righteous than the religious leaders who thanked God they where not likethe unworthy sinner.

Jesus hugged the lepper, leppers back then being viewed as so unclean they had to live outside in lepper colonies, you certainly wouldnt hug one.

God said he becomes Father to the Fatherless boy.

Jesus was pophesied as being rejected by men.

When Jesus returns, he said that to most Christians he would say, "get away from me you workers of righteousness, I never knew you".

Have you read the Quran by the way? Why are you attracted to a god that intends torturing people in the most wicked ways imaginable and for all eternity just for not being a Muslim?
If somebody told you a lie, would you put a hook in the siode of thier mouth and rip it open, and then put it in the other side so you could rip that side whilst the first side instantly heals so you could repeat the process for all eternity?
Such a god might inspire terror in me, but he could never earn my love and devotion.

Hello all, I used to be a non-denomintional christian until last year. In church, many so-called "Christians" would make fun of me and bully, and especially make fun of my aspergers-induced quirks and idiosyncracies. I found this to be the case at EVERY church I went to. I blelieve this is because Christianity does not tolerate any kind of deviance from the norm. I mean when you look at the bible and read all of its silly morals and laws, its basically anti-aspergers, anti-nonconformist, pro-neurotypical, pro-conformist propaganda. It didn't matter if I was in a catholic church, a othodox synagogue or whatever... every Xtian place of worship was full of serious people who did not appreciate it my dark sense of humur and penchant for satire...

But then I started reading about Islam and it seemed like a much more accepting relgioun. I started going to Masjid ("mosque", to you heathens) and it was so much more welcoming than any chrurch i have ever been too... I felt like all us Muslims there were one big family, and actually, in Allahs eyes, we are. Nobody made a big deal about me being an aspie, or being a satirist... i went to at least 3 mosques in my area, and my experienc was the same at each one. I also found other muslim aspies who have reported the same opinions, they're all happier as Muslims! i think have found the best religion not just for myself but for all Apsergians and all mankind. What do you think? Do you all think that Islam is the best faith for Aspies? Do you think that maybe it was just the Christians in my area that were stuck up and stupid, or is xtianity in general just a dum and close-minded religion?

It sounds like you have a problem with the people there, not Christianity itself. Way too many people give up their 'faith' for that reason, I know some of my friends have. I don't really see how one is "better" than the other, as Islam and Christianity have very similar general principles.

I think Islam is a beautiful religion, I have some friends from high school that are Muslim. I also have some people that I talk to on the internet that are Muslim too.

The problem with people in the USA is that we're getting a whole bunch of information out of the Middle East that is bad, yes its true that Muslim men kill their daughters, beat their wives and kill other Muslims and non-Muslims.

Christians do the same thing and so do Jews. I think what people have not realised is that Islam has nothing to do with the government, the governments over in the Middle East (probably including Israel) vary from country to country.

Like some of them will treat their non-Muslim minorities like crap while others won't, same thing applies to women's rights.

In other words you can't take what you see on TV or read about in the media and apply it to Islam. I'm pretty sure that the Prophet Muhammad is forgiving, so what if he had sex with a 9-year old girl? Do I like the idea...no! But that was common back then, but people who aren't Muslim that read this are thinking he's a pervert. Have they actually met this guy? Do they know why he married that girl? No they don't.

In other words those strict laws over in the Middle East actually come out of the government/monarchy, not the whole peoples. Thats why the USA has speration of church and state so that nobody can rule and turn words around from a religious text or make it the domanate religion by force.

"Have they actually met this guy? Do they know why he married that girl? No they don't. "

Nor do I know why Joseph Smith got the word about polygamy.

Both could easily have been genuine divine revelation - which I believe in - or pure altruism.,

I am not sure if Islam is more "pro Asperger'", but hey, why not, try it. I have studied religion, because I have an AS obsession with Semitic languages. I have studied Qu'ran at a Sufi Masjid and what I like is that Islam is more consistent than western Christianity as regards to monotheism. Islamic Tauhid and Hanif is monotheist as opposed to Trinitarianism which is semi-polytheist. Some Christians reject Trinity as do Jews and Samaritans.
Islam is interesting and Sufism is more philosophical than legalistic. In the Middle East and Afghanistan, however, Islam is very legalist and conformist. And then it also has large numbers of raging fanatics. Fanatic Muslims are very real and they are very nasty. They use their religion to excuse murder, robbery, and homosexual rape. Somehow they justify these things despite the Qu'ran forbidding wanton murder, theft, and sodomy.
I would guess that form of Islam would not be Asperger friendly.
Most Muslims I know and work with are not fanatics and many are Sufi. They are very intelligent and generous. Many of them admitted to me that fanatics in their homelands are really nuts and that the fanatics actually justify murder, pedophilia, and rape.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but it seems your having a issue with Christians rather than Christianity. However if your happy with a new religion i wish you luck. It'll be nice to have an intellectual conversation about religion with a third party apart of atheists and christians.

I've never been able to go there. I've gotten used to a lot of it, but too much is incomprehensible.

And the culture I WAS born into is with me reciprocally alien.
