Could we NOT fight preaching with more preaching?

No.

I have yet to read beyond your opening post here, but no, please do not go!

Actually his best shot is to go after rehab patients/recovering alcoholics.

That is nor polite nor true nor funny.

Agreed. I am a permanently recovered alcoholic -- No recovering-ing-ing for me, please! -- and I can personally attest to the complete failure of any religion to address that particular matter.

I would hope you stick around, if only to get a better idea of the realities behind those you are attempting to witness to. That's where the value of this forum is - not in convincing each other, none of us are ever likely to do that here. But in comprehending where the other stands and why. Your literature won't give you that.

Factual report there!

Attempting to pull oneself up by one's own bootstraps merely tips one's own nose back into the mud.

I might get accused of some level of cross-posting here, yet this seemed like as good/bad a place as any:

leejosepho wrote:
The one who even merely feels in any way offended now is the offended party here on WP as long as any one or more mods might happen to agree. However, that statement is merely for fair-public-notice purpose here where I and the mods actually do happen to agree!

Once again, and for illustrative purpose only here:

Merely offering a simple report of Scripture saying something about homosexuality being an abomination -- Question: Is the report I just made my own or from Scripture? -- will bring the thought police near and a yellow flag will likely be tossed because a WP member has just been perceived to be "sidling (sic) close" to some imaginary line in someone's mind.

(edit) Answer: Both. Personally, and though a "thought crime" it might be, I equally agree with mods and Scripture. But of course, I even still take no personal stand or position on the matter (of homosexuality).

i think perhaps your main problem here is preaching in a religon and politics forum. i know this is the forum that your expected to relay that type of information, but this is also where most of the narrow minded, argumentitive people love to play.
instead of just disagreeing with people, everyone has to insult each other. i akin it to children fighting over which videogame console they believe is better. really, this is the forum to show the world that aspie's are just like nt's.

here we go...

Many things take place within the pot before the stew finally reaches the table.

No, I am saying the ingredients placed into the mix do not always come back out looking (or in this case, sounding) the same. For example: One of us might "tear into" something someone else has said, and that might at first seem like such a terrible thing ... but then you and I might actually later truly enjoy those well-diced onions!

i enjoy the info and the availability to see the different sides of any subject, but i can do without the animosity that comes with it. ok, perhaps its just that when i found this site and went through all the other forums i seen, most of the posts, were caring and full of understanding. people trying to open up their hearts and minds to help out others. then in stark contrast nearly everyone in this forum jumps down anyone else's throat that disagrees with their way of thinking, their view of the world. not just disagreements but hatred. i suppose i was disheartened, and apperently foolish, to think that it would be at least a little different here, yet it's exactly the same as any nt BB. but i've lived long enough to know that that is life, live with it. so whatever.

and i realize that ranting off about people bickering back and forth is hypocritical, so i apoligize for that.

For some types of person, there is nothing else.

For certain other types, there is not even that, just a list of my way orr the highway directives.

For me and some others [admittedly a minority, but a vocal if quiet minority] there is the two way street exchange of ideas, ready to teach or be taught, looking [oft eagerly] for reasons to tweak one's current formulations.

i should add that my initial point was that if you want to preach you can do it without preaching. just keep posting your beliefs your opinions and information from your religion on any subject of a thread that interests you. it dosen't have to be in a preaching like manner. but you have to realize in this forum people seem to already have swords drawn before they even begin reading. i believe most people come into the forum just to argue. therefore always be ready to be jumped on.
discussing politics and religion always brings out the insanity and fun in everyone.
