Of course you can have faith.
But don't go criticising those that don't need it.
Don't go criticising those who believe in willpower.
Don't go criticising those who take fundamental truths from all religions and reject the isolationist or threatening aspects.
I refuse to believe sodomy sends people to hell, because I've met wonderful homo/bi sexual people.
Most religions I've researched actually have quite similar beliefs once you get down to the details.
To me a true spiritual journey involves looking at all angles.
To me an alien as a metaphor is just as useful as a jesus metaphor.
I see us all as sons and daughters of god, I see conciousness as a representation of the infinite journey to an impossible summit.
So in the end, "god made us" to you means a concious entity chose to create us, I believe conciousness was an inevitable result of evolution.
Though it seems an opposite view, the two can correlate.
I don't think its fair to preach the desire for acceptance and at the same time reject differing views.
I accept science because it created everything I know and use, I accept christianity as it has certain lessons and some beautiful metaphors (ie: father: existence, son: individual identity, holy spirit: ability to relate or express to others). I got obsessed with symbology as opposed to literal definitions because the more I think about it, the more I can apply these to my own life.
I used to have trouble with metaphorical language, and therefore I decided to work it out for myself, and reject a literal interpretation that separates people.
You must accept that something which can be interpreted an infinate number of ways can not be a definition of right and wrong, communication is the key to understanding your own beliefs.
You don't want to label us as aliens thats fine, I'm sure a lot of people don't want to be labelled as anti-christian or atheist simply for attempting to gain a wider view.
Original sin for example, can be seen as a metaphor for mankind not being humble with our environment, the way we change and shape it to suit our whims. A perfect metaphor for knowledge too, in that the more you search, the harder it gets to use faith to believe in a concious being in the sky.
Just my opinions, however I believe certain truths in what I've written can be applied to many different understandings.
