I don't get hippies, they love going to gay marches and dancing around kissing each other and sticking their middle finger up at homophobic western conservatives. But when it comes to strict homophobic Muslims, not only do they not mind them, they worship them as heros. They even want them to stay homophobic in order to show how un-westernized they are. What is being wrong with the brains of these hippies? Or is it that they just dont know because they had it hid from them.

Hippies?

Anyhow, I learned long ago no point trying to figure other people when I just barely get myself.

1) Gay sex is at the bottom of the list of things people in Indonesia care about. They're uptight, but they're not especially predisposed to homophobia as far as I can tell. In fact, I admire them for being uptight. They should just try harder to be nice to the queers.

2) Kazakhstan specifically has it in law that a person cannot be charged for a crime over gay sex. They are the world's largest landlocked country and predominantly Muslim.

3) The Republic of Turkey doesn't really go to very much trouble to piss off the gay people either, and I don't think they want to. I think they would rather do a lot of unpleasant things than to stir up that nest of hornets.

On the other hand...

4) Uganda, which is largely Christian, has been trying to pass a bill putting gay people to death. This is partly due to your political factions here in the USA, but somehow I doubt you're going to take responsibility for it.

5) For the same reason, Nigeria has a law that charges people with a crime for even knowing a gay person and not reporting it. Again, this is the handiwork of your chaps, and chances you are going to take responsibility for it are abysmally slim.

6) In Jamaica, gay people aren't even given due process. The police regularly participate in abuses against gay people, often encouraging mob violence. I honestly don't think your particular faction has anything to do with this, and I chalk it up to unmitigated thuggishness.

7) Finally, the Eastern Orthodox are about as homophobic as they can be, and they tend to behave like total jerks toward gay people even in countries that don't have homophobic laws.

Although I would agree with you that there is a double-standard, I know for a fact that you're trying to use this fact as justification for two different kinds of bigotry. You would do anything to justify your bigotry because I think that, at heart, you are deeply ashamed of yourself.

Stop trying to fool yourself because you're not fooling anybody else.

Oh, and Malaysia's attitude toward homosexuality is still very negative, but lately it's been turning into a nice, chauvinistically humanitarian form of bigotry. I think they'll figure out on their own that all they can accomplish by being inconsiderate toward the queers is to piss them off, and I am confident the gay people there can handle their own fight.

Besides, I can't hate on a country that produces the durian fruit. Those things are very fun to bring to outdoor parties, where the stink dissapates quickly. Wait for the third round of drinking to cut into it, but it's more fun than watermelon and oysters combined.

About Jamaica. It's partly the fault of the British and the kind of Christianity they passed on to slaves on the island. A lot of Jamaicans are very religious as well and can recite large sections of the KJV at you - yet the message of brotherly love has kind of been lost.

As for the Eastern Orthodox Church, Greece of all places is mega-homophobic as is Russia, though I don't know if the Church has anything to do with it in Russia, but it does in Greece.

@ WilliamWDelaney

I think the OP was referring to Islamic theocracies, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc. where homosexuality is a capital offense.

Tim, please tell me that you are not really so dense that you think I missed that point.

And are you really going to defend this guy? He's trying to justify being a jerk toward gay people by throwing off on the Muslims. I don't see any excuse in it.

Oh, excuse me. He's also trying to justify his hostility toward Muslims by pointing out their abuses toward their own LGBT communities. Renegade really doesn't give a crap what the Muslims do the local queers, but it sure suits him to have all the more license to behave like a jerk-off toward other people.

If we left idiots like him in charge, he would force all of the Muslims to convert to his doctrine, and he would adopt the worst of their laws on how they treat the queers. I know his stripe of filth. They really are all the same, and they even take pride in this fact. They really are that messed-up in the head.

Renegade, listen here, dumb-butt: although it quite ticks me off how some Islamic cultures behave toward the queers, I don't see any Muslims here. I see you here, and I have a common interest with Muslims in making sure the world knows what kind of miserable rubbish you really are underneath your justifications and your rhetoric.

You are only fooling yourself, Renegade. The longer you roll in your own filth, the more you will stink of it.

Oh, but don't you guys worry. Renegade isn't going to suddenly start acting like an ethical human being. He honestly doesn't care whether or not he is behaving with any morality whatsoever. You're just going to keep seeing the same deceitful, misleading drivel coming from him as long as he has the liberty to spew it. People like him don't change.

It might annoy to him an eensy, little bit that his little trick didn't fool anybody this time, but he won't admit it to anybody. He's just going to try to play it off somehow. The real tragedy of a sociopath and the thing that makes them truly incorrigible is that, if they ever did develop any conscience at all, they couldn't ever live with themselves. Sheer animal self-preservation keeps them from ever changing.

Problem is though that many Muslim countries are becoming more homophobic, more religiously fundamentalist. And our communities here are heading that way too.

The US government hasn't called Britain a hotbed of Islamist fundamentalism for nothing. See 'Andy' Choudary and other loons.

It's about how hippies only complain when Christians make homophobic remarks, and look the other way when people of other faiths make the same remarks.

What they want is to get rid of the Christians.

@Tim. Right there, you just tried to chalk up bigotry to your supposed religious beliefs. I don't believe you. I do not believe for one heartbeat that anti-gay bigotry on your part is genuinely motivated by your religious beliefs.

I think it's motivated entirely by your belief that you have a right to act like a jerk toward anybody who doesn't live or think in the same way that you do. I bet you're even hostile toward someone who doesn't wear the same fashions or follow the same team as you do. People like you are really quite pathetic, and it makes you look all the more like a worm that you keep hiding behind your religion.

You're probably not even all that observant.
