No, it isn't.

There are two kinds of people who spread ignorance about Islam. Those who parrot talking points mindlessly and those who have bothered to read the text with zip knowledge of the culture or history it grew out of.

There is nothing in either the Q'ran or Haidth that would impel a Muslim to forswear violence.

Funny, my copies of the same have plenty of them.

You might have better luck with an Unabridged versions.

In addition to violence the Islam promotes hatred of Jews. I do not take kindly to having a target painted on my pink Jewish a**.

So does Christianity, if you read things out of context. Unfortunately the history of Christianity has examples of Christians who did exactly that, using their poor excuse for exegesis as a poor excuse for their hatred.

Unfortunately, Islam is not any different in that regard. There are passages about Jews in the Qu'ran that pertain to particular groups Muhammad addressed at the time, who had done things like, oh, reneged on an agreement, nearly getting the nascent community obliterated.

By hey, don't bother to use any reliable academic resources during your research. Depending on screed is so much easier than actual research.

If Judaism is any different, perhaps it's just that it hasn't held the level of power the two younger religions have.

For all that, there are still Jewish neighborhoods I would not drive my car through on a Saturday, because I don't care for rocks being thrown at my car and getting it all dented. How awful a goy like me be allowed to break the Law! We must impose Torah on all! It's a conspiracy! We must pass laws to prevent the imposition of Jewish Law on us all!! !

Should I blame you and my next door neighbor for the actions of a few Jews and generally act in a hysterical fashion, like the above?

Personally, I would not call that just or fair-minded.

Do I think everything in Islam these days is hunky dory? No, I don't. From this non-Muslims point of view the Muslims seem to be working themselves out of a low point in their history, just as the Christians did before them (Inquisition, anyone?).

his accuser." (Dermenghem, op. cit., 331).

Well, well. Looks like more than a few terrorists in the name of Islam will have some difficult questions to answer, and not that Paradise they imagine they'll be getting for killing people.

Next time you want to investigate Islam, avoid the Internet. It's full of such bs.

Even now, there really is no substitute for a proper academic library.

Thank you. Far more effective than my knee-jerk sarcasm and mudslinging. Hard to avoid though.
