CLASH OF THE CULTURES PROJECT~!
Hello everyone,
I made this topic to specifically discuss the main religons of this world-Christianuty, Hinduism, and so on.
I have one basic goal for this topic:
COMPRIMISE
When people of different religons speak it usually ends in anger, despair, and worse case scenario-death.
My goal is to find a spot in the middle where ALL RELIGIONS ARE ACCEPTED for better or worse.
first off, I want to start with the basis of each religon, anyone please tell us how your religon functions(Daily life, worshiping etc.)
theres an interesting interpretation.....Darwins theory of revolution is usually the basis of culture fights between christians. mainly from my point of view its christians against the world...
I understand this view is seen by many other people and different religons.
I belive there is a place in my bible that agrees with every religon.
As a side note I want to find out once and for all which religons are false...
I'll begin with a brief profile of Christianity:
Christianity is based on:
1. The truths expressed in the Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and
2. The doctrines of the historical Christian church.
Christians understand God to be eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and personal. In Christianity, God is one, but has three centers of personhood (the Trinity). The three persons of the Trinity are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost). Other Christian teachings are:
* God created the universe and everything in it.
* God created humans that we might serve Him, love Him, and glorify Him.
* The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created with free will to obey or to disobey God's commands.
* They chose to disobey and as a result, God cursed the universe and gave humans a sin nature.
According to Christian teaching:
* God is holy, just and righteous.
* God hates sin, but He loves those whom He created even though they are sinners.
* Because God is just, He must punish sin, but because He is merciful, He made a way for those who will receive it to return to fellowship with Him.
* God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, to earth in a human body to live the perfect life and to take the just punishment for sin upon Himself by dying on the cross (crucifixion) in our place.
* If we will receive His gift of salvation in faith, God will forgive our sins and accept us into His family once again.
This is what the Bible teaches, both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and this is what the Christian Church teaches -- both Protestant and Catholic. Many people consider that the Bible is just a book of fables and can't be trusted. But there are problems with this idea. For one, the Bible gives a detailed historical account of the time period from the beginning of the earth until just after the time of Jesus. Archeological evidence supports the account given in the Bible in many details. There are no cases in which archeological evidence contradicts the Bible. In cases where people thought there were contradictions, further research showed that there were no contradictions after all.
Another line of evidence for the Bible is in the area of prophecy. The Bible contains many instances of prophecies of future events. In every case the prophecy has come true. Some of these prophecies are simply amazing. One example is the prophecy in the book of Daniel which gives the exact time from the command to rebuild the city of Jerusalem and the coming of Jesus Christ. It was fulfilled perfectly.

This is what an everyday christian applies to his/her daily life. . . .
Now some one tell me of the other religons and how they function...
That, and people don't want to be wrong - THAT is proven. Christians can have the same view points as buddhist, but at some point, they will see there is a difference. Even if one side is more "right" or "logical" then the other, those who believe in the opposite will not give up their belief.
Its "adapting," in terms of learning. For example, my Dad hates computers. He thinks they are useless as he was born in a time they did not really exist. Now, my dad simply refuses to "adapt" to changing times (he, himself, has made himself outdated). I believe this is the same for religions which is why they evolve and are not the same as they were 2000 years ago which means the beliefs contained within the religions are subject to change (so they are never concrete).
I'm still in the boat that religions derived from meditations. I think this
1) because I read it (debatable)
2) after practicing it, myself, I can understand a lot of reasonings behind it I didnt when NOT meditating
3) meditation has been around longer then any religions themselves but are incorporated into some of the oldest religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism as part of the practice
4) the fact religions have many similarities between them which means they evolve from one another or came from a single source.
(Yes, this is how I think any equality will happen - when people exercise their minds, more, and use more judgement and realize personal growth does NOT involve the ol'mighty dollar)
