Because bosses would realize that it does not pay to discriminate against autistics. According to Union rules if my Boss fires me before I work 40 hours I get back my seniority on the out of work list. Pretty soon my phone is ringing off of the hook and I am getting first dibs on all of the jobs.

After getting fired from ten jobs in a row while maintaining my seniority my Union accused me of taking advantage.

If it doesn't pay to discriminate, then why do you need Affirmative Action in the first place?

Bosses think that autistics are ret*ds and it is profitable to fire autistics. If Bosses realize that autistics are geniuses Bosses will still fire autistics because Bosses don't like the competition.

I am sure intelligence is distributed among autistics pretty much same way it is distributed throughout society. Average IQ about 100 for autistics and NTs.

Autistics are backward in their social skills. In their intellectual skills my guess is they are about the same as NTs.

The same argument is used by the pro-AA people to show why we still need it- because bosses still think hiring minorities is not profitable.

They do have a point, as indicated in the Roland Fryer study which shows that people with "black" names but identical resumes are less likely to be hired at a job.

However, affirmative action only worsens things, as people will assume that minorities' qualifications are due to affirmative action and thus will worsen discrimination.

We don't need to assume everybody is a racist/sexist, and we don't need to be giving ammunition to racist attitudes by affirmative action.

Not all autistic people have the same difficulties and not everyone is as lucky as you. People can have an above average overall IQ but still have trouble with certain tasks. Autism is often co-morbid with things like auditory processing disorder (having trouble understanding instructions in a noisy environment or when people talk with an odd accent), problems with executive functioning, or working memory. Most of these things have nothing to do with intelligence but can still interfere with keeping a job and lead to unfair judgements on your level of intelligence. If social issues are your only problem you really need to count yourself lucky.

I saw a fictional tv show once ("ER" maybe, I don't remember) in which a hospital patient refused to be operated on by a doctor who was a minority. The patient said he was not racist, but he knew that minorities were admitted to medical school with lower scores than whites. He simply wanted a doctor who had done better in school.
Kind of hard to argue with his reasoning.
