This idea God is dead?
God is dead in modern times because science has killed him and humanity required philosophers to point this out. People relied once on faith, now on science so God is more unnecessary than ever before this is why the phrase God is dead was coined. Is God all that has perished? What about philosophers? Are they a complete waste of time, like some claim about religion? Are they even needed in the modern era?
What are your views on this archaic art?
God is far from dead; the existence of things unexplainable by science proves that. People have seen angels, had their amputated limbs grow back, seen both heaven and hell only to come back and talk about it...there's no way all of that is coincidence or deception.
People have been trying to escape their inherent need for God ever since the Fall, and they'll keep doing it until Satan and all who rebel against God are quarantined permanently from Him.

Moviefan,
It's a fact, most rely on science to do what they once thought only God could accomplish. Healing the sick is prime example. Science has made this possible with greater accuracy. At one time, it was thought only God could do it.
Other strides, like in agriculture, have been made by scientists, not God or the gods and godesses.
So, Nietzsche believed man killed God through scientific discoveries.
What are your views on this archaic art?
The belief in a non-antromorphic deity predates all religions, and wasn't originally used to fill in on the gaps of science, but to explain how it began. Philosophy today isn't as necessary as it was in the past (back when it was essentially fused with science). Christianity and Islam were at one point in history largely responsible for keeping science alive, so religion and science are not mutually exclusive.
1st God is not dead or the Catholic Church would fall into tatters & a Pope would hold no authority. The idea Nietzsche was trying to get across is the past idea of God as the Old Testament had shaped him was no longer valid. The thing is that The Jesuits, a Catholic monastic order that specializes it education, brought formal education into the the period called the enlightenment where man no longer accepted that a all mighty omnipotent being sat upon a heavenly throne above Earth controlling everything & everyone. Instead the greek philosophers were expounded upon & math & science flourished. Philosophy eventually got around to Immanuel Kant who opened the door to the idea of existential thinking. In existential philosophy its believed we are just created by the correct scientific occurrences happening at the right time, with evolution and natural selection we came to become modern man, who was a animal who was self aware and had developed free will. Mans brain discovered to manipulate metal, wood, stone, plants, roots & soon mastered his environmental influence to invent things. Now you ask if Philosophy is required any longer? Yes, because philosophy PhD's become the ethics chairman for medicine. Philosophy teaches morals & ethics to those who do not grasp religious teachings of moral & ethical law. As a agnostic existential/humanist I believe in Grand Architect Of The Universe, but not the idea man has written by his own hand, I don't believe Jesus was a demi-God Messiah that resurrected, to be honest Protestant bibles like the King James Version & New International Version were created by copying much of the most read fictional book ever called Paradise Lost and is a travesty that its so marred thanks to post-reformation Church of England head the English King only around 500-600 yrs ago. It got laughed out of England and Europe so badly the king had his thousands of pre-printed copies boxed up & shipped to his colonists in America it so blindly followed orders of The King to the point Puritan and Quakers and Protestants were formed here. Philosophy challenges one to think so deeply as to question alternative answers to all humans do & why. Without philosophy Aspies like me wouldn't have a intellectually based moral compass rather than a NT emotional one. So much emotional support is involved in NT decisions they are unaware that their emotions are actually 30-70% of every choice they make. Us aspies learn non-linear logic and philosophy meets that need. Without philosophical morals & ethics teaching Aspies we'd be very confused about choices because the struggle to understand empathy, love, lust, hate, etc. is tough for those wired to operate within those parameters that philosophy gives aspies a actual choice in their emotional understanding. I'm sure you get my point. With 1 in 55 kids now being diagnosed with a autism spectrum disorder philosophy will prove to be a intellectual's religion. As far back as I can remember I was questioning religious education to the point I got kicked out of Sunday school for being "disruptive", but philosophy just made sense to me & I read & read for decades to the point I began college I was already deep into existentialism.

If god is dead it's only because a group of western philosophers who grew up in a time and place that was fixated with a single diety decided he was dead. But they forgot to kill the other gods so there should still be plenty of them left.
If the other gods are dead too, well, please show your work.
The re-growing of amputated limbs... I am only aware of one instance, in 17th century Spain, and only the man himself and his priest claimed to have seen him without a limb. If you can provide links to other claimed regrowing limbs, I would be pleased to see them
Both heaven and hell (and angels for that matter) are widely seen in popular culture. It makes sense for dying brains to imagine they are going to one of those places.
It is particularly likely that these are just hallucinations because people from different cultures see different things. Even within our culture, some people visit a cartoon Hell of fire and brimstone, some people visit a desolate Hades, and some people experience a terrifying void.
In other cultures, some people see Anubis, some see Yamraj, some see any other god of death you care to mention. Indians tend not to see their own body (whereas Americans will), and Indians are usually revived by officials of the afterlife because "a mistake has been made", whereas Americans will be sent back by their family members because "it's not your time".
So if these visions are real, then either God is actively deceiving people from other cultures, driving them away from Christ and therefore Heaven, or belief in Christ is not necessary in order to access the Kingdom of Heaven
If God is dead, the Big Bang Theory wouldn't be a theory: Anything infinite is impossible in science. Therefore we
(being fruit of the 'Big Bang') do not exist, just as God does not.
Since we are therefore just as impossible as God, and we exist through the fact we are even discussing this topic in the first place,
God must also be as likely to exist, as the hair on your chinny chin chin.
Since the most likely to be true, out of God existing and not, has been proven to be God existing (through above conclusions),
we can assume we are merely thoughts of God himself, an impossibility made possible out of not being thought, then thought, through the big bang, God's big bang.
We may also, we ourselves being an impossibility, not be the only infinite creation, the impossibility 'God' has created.
So our final conclusions are that everything imaginable has a chance to exist, and therefore, our curiosity to explore God's scientifically impossible creation, our most God/Jesus like quality.

Shouldn't it first be proven that someone was actually alive before he or she can be declared dead?
I mean, if all we have as "evidence" of a person's existence is a handful of campfire stories that have been around since the Stone Age, with embellishments and exaggerations being added with each successive generation until those myths were finally put in writing less than 2000 years ago, then how can anyone honestly claim that such a person actually existed in the first place, and then go on to claim that the person is now dead?
Besides ... where's the body?
What are your views on this archaic art?
God is hiding in the Gaps, but the Gaps are fast closing up.

Well..considering that only about 2% of the entire world is atheist and
approximately 9 out of 10 Americans..have some belief in GOD..only down slightly
from the 1940's..when the fear of the end of the world..
was in the hearts of most..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_atheism
Science ain't killed nothing...as far as GOD goes...
it's not designed to even do that..
and the total effect AND AFFECT..of science has brought many
people closer to a belief in GOD..as the order it brings..
is simply too amazing..for most folks to see
as coincidence...and not 'pre-ordainMENT'...as NOW..
well...so
the answer is of course not..
That's a myth at most..ironically..
As long as belief in gOd exists..
GOD exists..it's as simple as that..
And as long as human beings have existed..
in historical records..some type/form/force of GOD(S} co-exist{s)...
It is the belief that matters..
the object is neither here or tHere..
LITERALLY SPEAKING!
AND some humans are naturAlly philosophers..
it's even a type of personality..viewed upon by as such..
among female autistics..of the Asperger's variety..by experts like Tony Atwood..
so no..as long as human beings exist.
GoD exists..
and so do philosophers...
The majority of which..
of all who exist on earth..
believe in GOD..
so GOD exists...
The human mind ..the illusion we believe..
IS ALL THAT EXISTS..
FOR ALL WE KNOW...OR PERCEIVE ..
AS
WH@IS
GOD
OR WHATEVa
the f**
one wants
to call
IS
or
Oz
Man creates GOD..
so only man can KILL GOD..
and so far the verdict is an overwhelming YAY..
for majority vote ..of the entire globe....
for
GOD LIVES
And considering the believers are breeders..
and the non-believers are more often non-breeders..
math..simple math..
tells the
future
tale of GOD
as the non-believers..FAIL
MORE OFTEN TO EVEN FRIGGIN..
PASS ON THEIR GENES..THE MOST ELEMEMENTARY
PART OF ANIMAL INTELLIGENCE..
F** ING..
AND YAH IT'S MORE THAN FUN..
AS PER HOW MORE NON-BELIEVERS..
SEE IT...
NO Personal judgements here.. on my part.. just common sense..
and analysis of facts..
and yah .. statistical analysis too...
ya can't stop the math..
but GOD IS SCIENTIST2....;)
and a real comedian around these parts..
per human irony..
i think i 'here' 'him' giggling.. or 'googling' ..
'right' now..:)

Aghogday,
What philosophers meant is not the rise in numbers of non believers, rather, the fact people rely less on faith to solve problems, more on science and this has occurred the world over. It is a global phenomenon. People do not consciously acknowledge it but you see it everyday in how they solve problems. They run to the doctor, not the faith healer. They research instead of praying at the alter. They experiment instead of consulting the Pope. Whether believers wish to acknowledge or not, science has, indeed, replaced God. Only in the sanctum sanctorium of the church is God living.
