Is there another forum where the likes of Ag, Orwell, Master Pedant, DWaMum, skafather, panda bear, greenblue, ruveyn, lkl, sand, fnord and many more have gone?

AG popped up sorta recently, haven't seen Orwell in a while, M_P chimes in fairly infrequently but is around, DW_a_Mom posts a lot in the parents forum and occasionally L&D, Ska's been gone for years, Panda became AP, who I can only assume perished in a recent bridge collapse, GreenBlue I haven't seen in years, Ruveyn is around but posts less frequently, LKL disappeared recently, I'm not sure if Sand is still with us given his age, and Fnord is another recent disappearance. Except where noted, I haven't seen these people elsewhere on the board.

I've never understood where this idea that Aspies will generally be logical and reasonable comes from, having met hundreds of them over the years, I can fairly conclusively state that these traits are as uncommon among us as they are among the general population.

Y'know it's bad when the debate on sexism in the L&D forum is more interesting than PPR.

Heh, going from PPR to L&D is like easy mode if you're a fact based arguer, "evidence, please?" is practically a thread killer in there.

Youtube poisoning. He posted one too many video links, and his body just couldn't take it anymore. It's cumulative, like lead or arsenic.

The mods dynamited his bridge while he was underneath it. aka we banned him for his ongoing trollish behaviour.

Kind of appropriate, don't you think?

And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.

And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that Lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

This forum lost its edge when Quatermass carried out his pogram several years ago. BTW thanks for the info Dox. So I am guessing there is not another forum where everyone has headed of to. I know there was one, but for the life of me I cannot remember the name nor find it via searching, so maybe it has gone down?

Things go in cycles, when there are things to debate there will be more activity. I do think the site problems play some role on the forum overall, there seems to be less activity now then there use to be but maybe that's just perception. When you've been on this site and this forum in particular for a while, the topics can get pretty repetitive if it is not actually tied into an event. Does anybody want to debate the same thing with the same people over and over again? I think there is a shelf life on being "engaged", you can only be so idealistic for so long until life and the world around you leaves you beaten down and cynical. There is no point expending any more energy, we all got our own lives to live.

Agreed. But sometimes, I guess, a mod's gotta do what a mod's gotta do.

Dude could play some fiddle and classical guitar, though. He gave me some good advice on string methods if I should ever get some more violin students. The two I had flaked out on me. He'd have been alright if he'd just stuck with posting in the music sub forum.

Before he was ArantPariah he was Pandabear so that tells me this was not his first time being banned and that he has figured out a few tricks of the internet. Don't be surprised if he re-surfaces.

Don't get me wrong. He offended me six ways to Sunday. I don't miss that one bit. But he made me think, too. I always knew I was arguing with a brick wall, but at the same time I saw a few angles to arguments I hadn't thought about before. And some of his posts were just flat entertaining.

It wasn't his posts that offended me the most, though. It was that I'd get "official warnings" before he did, that somehow he got a free pass from other users while I might as well have praised Hitler, pulled the wings off flies, and farted in closed elevators. It's less an indictment on inconsistent modding and more on the tendency towards hypocrisy from certain users. I suppose we're all guilty there in different ways, but getting slapped with that here has never been something I could wrap my brain around. As much as I hate to say it, but if those are the users that are leaving WP, I can't say I'm going to miss them all that much.

Yes, he could indeed be quite entertaining.
I learned along time ago to put my offended selector switch in the standby mode while online with the exception of occasional "manufactured offense" when appropriate.

Yep, I got a TOS for half jokingly calling the troll a troll after he'd been banned for trolling under the other username. I guess I can't say I was too surprised, though.

I'm not sure how PPR ever got started or why. If I had to guess I'd say it was born of the news and current events forum where a lot of news topics become polarised and heated and need to be sent somewhere other than news and current events to be hashed out. Since politics, philosophy, and religion are highly sensitive topics it stands to reason that there will be incivility and trolling. I'm not particularly bothered by either and even find it amusing since by its title I expect mud and s**t to be slung about in this forum. If I was bothered I'd simply stay out. A few forums dedicated to pets or special interests would serve the AS community much better but oh well, it's not my website and I'm not going to offer to buy it so whatever it will be it will be....

I don't know. Sometimes life/s**t happens and internet forums take a backseat.

We don't do some of the pointless social things neurotypicals do. This is explained because we are all either robots, Vulcans, or both. Therefore, we must be as logical as Vulcans and robots.

(I've noticed that "Aspies are logical" is usually played by people who are acting extremely irrationally, particularly conspiracy theorists. I am worried that these people must be convinced that they are right and everyone else is wrong because they are autistic and rational, whilst everyone else is neurotypical, and indeed disagreeing with them is a sign that you too must be neurotypical)
