Christians, What is the Formula of your Discovery?

Ok!! I detect a formula; however, it is much like saying the true religion must be the one that makes the most promices and offers the most.
Thus appealing to human greed. because without these promice people would be selfish to help help out god

An understandable objection if one were to choose religion soley on what promised the most. One must also take into account the evidence though, which I beleive points toward the truth of the Bible. Another issue to take into account is that it is very unique in its claim to exclusivity. Every religion in the world teaches us that we may obtain salvation through doing good deeds. Except one. That is Christianity, which only requires beleif, as we cannot acheive salvation ourselves. The few other religions that claim exclusivity are all copies of Christianity, such as Jehovas witness or Islam, but they also all claim that non believers may be saved.
As a Christian, I follow the Bible when it tells me to do good deeds. According to the standards of most other religions, my good deeds should get me to heaven, even if I do not beleive their religion. But by Christianities standards, I can never get to heaven by deeds. So if Christianity is true, following another Buddhism will not save me. If Christianity is not true, then being a Christian will not prevent my salvation if I am a good person.
This is not an argument for Christianity. It is merely saying that if Christianity seems equal to other religions, it makes sense to go with Christianity.
That a religion promises a lot does not in any way make it true. But if the evidence points toward it being true, it gives a motivation for putting ones faith in it.

You've brought up a lot of good points so far and I can tell you know your stuff. However, with that exclusiveness Christianity has it again it hard to tell how much of that isn't just an augmentation to keep people within its ranks or keep good people of other religions second guessing themselves and wondering if they're really saved. Could be true, could be just a low-brow sales tactic which back in the day where there were no guns and no great equalizers between the strong who were too strong for their own good vs. those who were good who didn't live their lives weight training to conquer - you kinda had to do that. If what you say is true of Judaism and Islam then it would make me wonder why those religions aren't as inherently self-separating (though with Islam, I really have a hard time seeing that - there was in the past and now a re-emerging "convert or kill" mentality which if your right goes completely in contradiction to the Koran)

10 Reasons To Believe In Christianity
1.) THE CREDIBILITY OF ITS FOUNDER.
Christ said He came from heaven to fulfill prophecy, to die for our sins, and to bring to His Father all who believe in Him. Logic says that He was either a liar, a lunatic, a legend, or the Lord of heaven. His first-century followers drew their own conclusions. They said they saw Him walk on water, still a storm, heal crippled limbs, feed 5,000 with a few pieces of bread and fish, live a blameless life, die a terrible death, and alive again. During His ministry, when some of Jesus' followers took issue with His teachings and left, He asked those closest to Him if they too wanted to leave. Peter spoke for the others when he said, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (John 6:68-69).

Outside of the bible however, we have no solid evidence that this person existed. Even the writings of Josephus are suspected to have been altered.

2.) THE RELIABILITY OF ITS BOOK.
Written over a period of about 1,600 years by 40 different authors, the book on which the Christian faith rests tells one story that beings with creation and concludes on the threshold of eternity. The integrity of its historical and geographical record is supported by archeology. The accuracy with which it has been copied and handed down to us has been confirmed by the Dead Sea Scrolls of Qumran. Originating neither in the East or the West, but in the Middle East--the cradle of civilization--the Bible continues to speak not only with spiritual power but with convincing prophetic accuracy.

You can't even get through the second chapter of genisis before the bible contradicts itself. Two contradicting creation stories
Not to mention Unfulfiled Prophecies

3.) ITS EXPLANATIONS FOR LIFE.
All religious systems attempt to give meaning to our existence. All attempt to explain our thirst for significance, the problem of pain, and the inevitability of death. All religions attempt to apply the design of the cosmos to our individual lives. It is the Christian faith, however, that reflects the caring attention to detail so evident in the species and ecosystems of the natural world. It is Christ who speaks of a Father who takes note of every sparrow that falls, a Father who numbers even the hairs of our head (Matthew 10:29-31). It is Christ who reveals a God who shows how much He cares for all that He has created. It is Christ who clothed Himself in our humanity to feel what we feel, and then to suffer and die in our place. It is Christ who reveals a God who cares as much about His creation as the design and detail of the natural world indicates (Psalm 19:1-6; Romans 1:16-25).

This is nothing more than an obsolete earth-centric world-view. we are in an insignificant corner of an imense universe. How is is that such a tiny speck of the universe is significant, and the rest of it's vastness is meaningless ??

4.) ITS CONTINUITY WITH THE PAST.
The Christian faith offers continuity with our deepest ancestral roots. Those who trust Christ are accepting the same Creator and Lord worshipped by Adam, Abraham, Sarah, and Solomon. Jesus didn't reject the past. He was the God of the past (John 1:14). When He lived among us, He showed us how to live according to the original plan. When He died, He fulfilled the whole Old Testament sacrificial system. And when He rose from the dead, the salvation He offered fulfilled God's promise to Abraham that through his descendant He would bring blessing to the whole world. The Christian faith is not new with Christ. From Genesis to Revelation it is one story. It is His story--and ours (Acts 2:22-39; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

Much of the old testament is known to be plagerized form Summarian sources. The Hebrew people pre-date the Jewish faith by at least 2,000 years. There's no solid evidence Jesus even lived, and there's several versions of the bible with differing numbers of books.

5.) ITS FOUNDATIONAL CLAIM.
The first Christians were not driven by political or religious dissent. Their primary issues were not moral or social. They were not well-credentialed theologians or social philosophers. They were witnesses. They risked their lives to tell the world that with their own eyes they had seen and innocent man die and then miraculously walk among them 3 days later (Acts 5:17-42). Their argument was very concrete. Jesus was crucified under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. His body was buried and sealed in a borrowed tomb. Guards were posted to prevent grave tampering. Yet after 3 days the tomb was empty and witnesses were risking their lives to declare that He was alive.

The earlt christians WERE driven by political dissent, namely the desire to overthrow Roman rule. Again, there's no solid evidence for the existence of jesus.

6. ITS POWER TO CHANGE LIVES.
Not only were the fist disciples dramatically changes, but so was one of their worst enemies. Paul was changed, but so was one of their worst enemies. Paul was transformed from a Christian killer into one of their chief advocates (Galatians 1:11-24). Later he reflected the changes that had occurred in others as well when he wrote to the church in Corinth, "Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

I wouldn't argue with religions power to change peoples lives. However, this is not unique to christianity and the change isn't always for the better. Just look at this douche Benny Hinn

7. ITS ANALYSIS OF HUMAN NATURE.
The Bible says that society's real problems are problems of the heart. In an age of information and technology, failures of character have scandalized institutions of family, government, science, industry, religion, education, and the arts. In the most sophisticated society the world has ever known, our national reputation is marred by problems of racial prejudice, addiction, abuse, divorce, and sexually transmitted disease. Many want to believe that our problems are rooted in ignorance, diet, and government. But to our generation and all others, Jesus said, "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man" (Matthew 15:19-20).

Modern Psycology has de-bunked most christian notions of human nature like demon possesions and other such BS. Funny, I never recall the bible talking about Aspergers or Autisim.

Generation after generation has hope for the best. We fought wars that would end all wars. We developed educational theories that would produce enlightened, nonviolent children. Yet we are as close as ever to what the New Testament describes as an endtime marked by wars and rumors of war, earthquakes, disease, loss of affection, and spiritual deception (Matthew 24:5-31; 2 Timothy 3:1-5).

9.) ITS IMPACT ON SOCIETY.
A carpenter rabbi from Nazareth changed the world. Calendars and dated documents bear silent witness to His birth. From rooftops, necklaces, and earrings, the sign of the cross bears visual witness to His death. The Western world-view, which provided a basis for social morality, scientific methodology, and a work ethic that fueled industry, had roots in basic Christian values. Social relief agencies, whether in the West or East, are not fueled by the values of Hinduism, Buddhism, atheism, or secular agnosticism, but by the direct or residual values of the Bible.

Christianity has more often than not, stood in the way of scientific break through. Galileo, stem-cell research, etc.....
Christianity's impact has been spotty to say the least. Dark Ages, the inquisitions, witch burnings, the subjugation and oppression of Latin America etc....

10.) ITS OFFER OF SALVATION.
Alternative religious views have saviors who remain in the grave. No other system offers everlasting life as a gift to those who trust One who has overcome death for them. No other system offers assurance of forgiveness, eternal life, and adoption into the family of God by calling on and trusting Someone in the same way a drowning person calls for and relies on the rescue of a lifeguard (Romans 10:9-13). The salvation Christ offers does not depend on what we have done for Him, but on our acceptance of what He has done for us. Instead of moral and religious effort, this salvation requires a helpless admission of our sins. Instead of personal accomplishments of faith, it requires confession of failure. Unlike all other options of faith, Christ asks us to follow Him--not to merit salvation but as an expression of gratitude, love, and confidence in the One who has saved us (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Salvation is based on "Good cop, Bad cop" psychology. It's realy just a simple headgame that ensares the weak-minded. There's only a handfull of really "bad' people in this world, and they're usually too hard to fix in the first damn place.
Quote:
You are not alone if you are still unconvinced about the reasonableness of faith in Christ. But keep in mind Jesus' claim that we don't have to resolve our doubts on our own. He said, "If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether My teaching comes from God or whether I speak on My own" (John 7:17). If you do see the reasonableness of faith in Christ, keep in mind that the Bible says to the family of God, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). The salvation Christ offers is not a reward for effort, but a gift to all who put their trust in Him.
No, Salvation is a trick. It's the promise of reward that you never receive (Heaven)

.
So as I understand it is. That while over religions say you need to be only a good person, Christianity require your devotion.
Makes a lot of sense, I have someone at work who steels candy and soda, bog role from the man khazi. And there is my line manager, she is a gem of a person, she has never behaved respectful way.
Who do you think I prefer? The crooked guy who steels candy because he is loyal buddy, and a good fella. My line-manager good too but she isn’t going to steel candy for me, and she isn’t going any ware near the mans Khazi as it is very manky in there.
Well I believe in unified theory, but when you do your work on it, the god of all religions traces back to be the same god. My theory is that "god" is the sun. I believe much of the "miracle" stuff is exagerated, they were most likely metaphors in my opinion, and most people took them WAY out of context.
But the formula for me to explain this is way too complex and would take too much time for me to worry about posting it here.

Christianity indeed does require devotion as opposed to good deeds (though good deeds are part of that devotion) but my point was not about devotion. Other religions also require devotion. The difference is that Christianity says that this devotion will never get us to heaven. Devotion and good works is an essential part of Christianity, but it is the RESULT, not the cause, of our salvation. Salvation is obtained simply by recognizing that you cannot save yourself in any manner. The "good" is what we were meant to be. there are a thousand ways to fall, only one way to stand. If we have corrupted our goodness through any sin, we cannot expect all of our good deeds to make up for it, no matter how many we do. Our nature now has been corrupted. Therefore, it is only through faith that God can do it for us that we may be saved. Because we have all sinned we are all seperated from God.
And I was a bit confused by your work analogy, I don't know what Khazi is or what point you are trying to make. Can you clarify?

If you say that Christianity gives a reason for people to fear leaving or that it gives good reason to stay, and this means that its just a "tactic", you could use that argument for anything. You could say that the government used peoples fear after pearl harbor to send us to war. Well yeah, but there was a good reason to be scared after pearl harbor! I'm not saying a religion can't use tactics to keep people in, but you have to look at the whole picture. Truth isn't based on consensus, what is true is true. So assuming Christianity is true, it would make sense that it would claim exclusive truth, even if others may copy this by calling themselves exclusively true to convince people.
Convert or kill is not a complete contradiction to the Koran. It contradicts some parts, other parts it is condoned. It was based on Mohameds current situation and feelings. He spoke well of the Jews and Christians early on, later after he was persecuted he became extreme and vengeful. Further reason I don't beleive the Koran. It is clearly the writings of a man.
And I'm not sure what you mean by self seperating, you mean into factions? Islam is VERY seperating, you've got Sunni's, Shi'ites, and the little branches like the Bahais and Suffi's who are heretics.

The point is the Christianity and many woman appear to prefer a bad boy over a noble one so long has he has loyalty to them only.
Yes Christianity says that they prefer the good and loyal most of all, however it is a simple fact that someone wicked but loyal has precedence over someone who is good but not loyal.
It could be that the entity of Christianity ,much like many people, like those wicked but loyal people but don’t want to admit it, I mean what religion would admit it.

Watch out
The Koran is the "infallible word of allah".
Anyway .... I am reminded of something I heard, that friends are not necessarily the people you like best, just the people who "got there first". IMO religion is like that for most people, its the religion that go to you first. If there is any "formula" you should ask converts to the religion.
IMO the bible contains a lot of alegory - stories to illustrate principles - rather than actual facts, and it is written by people, the word of the apostles and others and therefore able to have different interpretations put on it. The Koran however is said to be the infallible word of allah and not open to interpretation.

I agree. And I like your quote about friends being the people that got there first.
While I believe the entire bible the word of God, no one ever came down and said, "Genesis through Revelation is literal". The same can't be said for the Koran. I have read the entire Koran, and it is basically like a big sermon in which most of it is devoted to saying, "every surah of this book is the one hundred percent literal word of God". This presents a big problem when the very clear historical, scientific, and literal errors are found in it. The Bible is a collection of something like 60 compiled books, and does not suffer the same problem.

depending on how its interpreted. if you take it as all literal, yes there are. But if much of it is taken as metaphorical, it does not. I would be interested in listing any of the specific contradictions. I believe that whatever contradiction you have it is likely explainable
