How far do you think the world's countries and international bodies will go with regards to regulating or censoring the internet? How do you think these regulations will affect the global economy, which the majority of the time economic activity is shifting into cyberspace? Would we re-adopt old methods of doing stuff somehow on a certain level?

If the world starts to crack down on cyberspace, I think I'll go to my local library instead. :)

Seems kind of stupid to downgrade the internet and make it less effective in the name of censorship, perhaps intelligence will prevail in this area....maybe not though.

The U.S. Government already copies all of the Internet activity and scans it for security stuff.
They already scan your phone and other devices too.

The U.S. and it's European allies built a system called Ashelon, which monitors all electronic communications worldwide. It was originally used to monitor the soviets.

The Swiss are building their version as well.

The UK and EU already jointly monitor all the electronic communications coming in and out of Europe.
They also have a division that monitors the Internet, tracks the users and can take down a device.

China controls all electronic communications within the mainland and regularly hacks everyone else.
They have the great firewall which blocks anything the government disapproves of...

Most countries have the ability to block sites and other stuff.

In most regions ISPs can block anything want, even if they aren't allowed.

The Western countries need a warrant to eve drop or to spy on their citizens, but can go after anyone else.

All the way? Almost everything on the internet is monitored already, a lot of western countries other than the US already censor the internet and do not believe in the concept of free speech, why do you think everything is being integrated to social media? They want to destroy the line between our online identities and our offline ones, they want every little thing we do to be tied to our name. Its for the children of course, to protect us from pedophiles and terrorists, and in their eye's if you have a problem with that then maybe you just have something to hide.

It's disgusting really, our governments are out of control and becoming more and more tyrannical by the day. They expect complete transparency for us proles but will chase you to ends of the earth if you so much sniff around the crimes against humanity they are responsible for, they can surveil us with no just cause or warrant or any due process just because they feel like it. To the politicians, people like Bradley Manning, Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, et cetera are way way more scarier than ISIS or North Korea and they must be destroyed. Obama is a disgusting man, he's go after more whistleblowers in his administration than all the previous ones did combined. All our communications are tracked by the NSA except Hilary's emails? Oh...
