That is not prayer. That is called sticking up for your brother and believing in him, and believing that he can fight his addiction. It wasnt the so called "god" it was just you, trying to be more sociable. I refuse to be prayed for, so please just stop it, it serves no real purpose exept lying to yourself and others.

What do you mean Fiona? When are you gonna give proof that "prayer" works? This "prayer" thread was started 3 months ago and its not working.. I want to see some results!

Berta, I understand that you are frustrated and angry about your personal circumstances. However, how can we prove to you that prayer works if you don't want anybody praying for you? There are people here that barely know you and they really want to help you, yet they are limited in what they can do because there are oceans, and some cases, continents too, in between us, so praying for God's intervention on your behalf is the best thing that we all can do. So I ask that you please at least think about letting people pray for you again.

Thank you, ElfMan. I was just going to suggest that myself.

Sean, we can still pray for people without them knowing. :) I am going to pray that I can help other aspies/autistic people by making friends with them and letting them know about WP.

I think that's great. However, quite soie time ago I gave consideration to the thought of praying secretly for people that have specifically stated that they don't want it and cncluded that it would be disrespectful to their wishes. However, praying for wisdom and guidance for myself that could be used to help someone would not violate a person's wishes.

I never intended for any of my interjectins to become a debate. If anyone has anything else to say abut this, please tell me privately and use this thread for prayer requests.

I'd just like to give thanks that someone I care about arrived back safely from a trip yesterday. I was kind of obsessing about him being on a plane last night; even though it was silly, I couldn't help worrying and being relieved when I knew he was back on the ground, safe.

This is a tradiotional buddhist prayer...I offer it for all of the members of WP

Through the working of Great Compassion
in their hearts,
May all beings have happiness
and the causes of happiness,
May all be free from sorrow
and the causes of sorrow;
May all never be separated from the
sacred happiness, which is sorrowless;
And may all live in equanimity,
Without too much attachment
and too much aversion;
and live believing in the equality of
all that lives. Namo Amida Buddha.

I pray for a friend of mine who has recently moved across the country and is having trouble making friends at her new school. It is very difficult for her because the popular kids at her school are still very prejudiced against African American people.

I also pray that I can be more accepting of new neighbours. They seem nice, but are also homosexual and hopefully I can become less judging of them.

Dear god,

I pray with all my might that you teach fionaban how to spell and use proper grammar, instead of using chatroom kiddie-speak.

Amen
