You misunderstand. Progressivism is a lie. It's about controlling people's lives not making their lives better. Hilary Clinton was the progressive poster girl.

Progressive
1.
favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters:
a progressive mayor.
2.
making progress toward better conditions; employing or advocating more enlightened or liberal ideas, new or experimental methods, etc.:
a progressive community.
3.
characterized by such progress, or by continuous improvement.

I think you need to take a break from political stuff for a while, and just chill so you can refresh your perspectives. My whole point is in a lot of ways the democratic party and Hillary aren't progressive hence why many progressive liberals are disappointed with the democratic party and why it didn't get enough support to win out over Trump. I would say the democratic party is a bit more progressive than the republican party, but I wouldn't say the democratic party is the voice of progressives per say.

Words definition and their actual real word use don't always match. Gay means happy. Not how it's been used for last 40 years.

Progressives push control. They want to ban guns, ban fast food, ban soda. Whey want to control people's lives and tell us how to. Live. They want to force everyone to change to how they are. Whether you or not these people call themselves progressives and that's how it's been come to be known now. Definition or no definition. People are free to repurpose words as they want if they get enough people behind it.

So no I dislike progressives. I tired of them trying to control my life.

Isn't there a difference between progressive and regressive left?

Never heard or regressive left before today so I'm going assume it's a new made up term like alt right.

I hear it used to describe certain liberals against values such as free speech.

You still aren't getting it, I am saying people that want ridiculous controlling rules aren't progressive, constantly using the word 'progressive' to describe that is misleading. The more extreme end of the democratic party certainly is controlling and can hardly be described as 'progressive'. You don't like the democratic party....

It would be like calling the religious right who wants to ban birth control, abortion, gay marrige and things that they see as 'sinful' progressive.

I would call the Soda ban mainstream. I know New York has been pushing for it.

hmm I haven't heard much of anything about it, so not sure how mainstream it is as far as the whole country. Either way I don't see what would be progressive about a soda ban...I could see the value in encouraging people to limit their intake for health reasons but not a ban.

I tend to enjoy carbonated drinks myself and wouldn't be happy about a soda ban...if such ridiculousness comes to my state I would certainly oppose it as would plenty of others who identify as liberal.

I agree, I see this as a problem on both sides. With the Berkeley riot dissenters were labeled "nazis". With the right its terms like "Muslim" "cuck" "beta male".

The democrats seem to be in the process of self destruction at the time.
The republicans need to seize the moment and do whatever it takes to broaden thier appeal to a wider portion of the electorate.

Also, there need to be economic plans that address certain regions of the country, and certain industries. Yes, there is a lot of job growth, but it's concentrated in 2 or 3 industries.

Also, there needs to be an education plan where people with college degrees in non-STEM fields can parlay transferable skills into tech industries, and analytical fields.

Deconstructionism by the left has made these political labels completely meaningless, it's comes down to what emotional response you can elicit by the domination of language rather than any utterance of fact. Think about how all the oppressive dictatorships which give themselves the title 'Democratic Republic" that are anything but, people aren't stupid but they play the role well so everything must be looked at thru an ideological lens. In America, identifying as liberal or progressive is more palatable than being a socialist or whatever label they identify as, people came to hate these self identified liberal and progressives the terms fall out of usage so now we've come full circle now with socialism. Bernie Sanders isn't a socialist in the same way Fidel Castro is a socialist, he called himself a 'democratic socialist' like in Scandinavia which believe it or not actually has freer more open markets than the US has. Bernie believes in the European welfare state but now welfare has bad connotations linguistically tied to it so it has to be called something else.

I'm very happy for you that you have no regrets as to who you voted or didn't vote for in the 2016 election and you will feel no consequences whatsoever.

Absolutely no sarcasm here. I mean it genuinely.
