Should the USA split apart like the USSR did?
Actually, they aren't. The United Kingdom is a sovereign state which is composed of four countries- Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland (since Ireland gained it's independence from the UK). Scotland is a country that has a political union with England, Wales is technically a principality of England, not sure what the exact status of Northern Ireland is. The sovereign state is what is on our passports, but Scotland and England are definitely separate countries.
Now that IS true.
Then the east and west coast would loose cheap food without the Midwest.
And Cheap oil without Texas, North Dakota and Alaska.
There is some farming here in New England but it's not what it used to be and is shrinking by the year.
Without a United America everything would cost so much.

It is a simple statement of fact that the UK is a country, and that Scotland and England are constituent parts of that country.
We call the four countries of the UK “countries” but in essence they are what most countries would call “states” or “provinces”. Personally I think this is rather arrogant of us so refrain from doing it myself. I’m not going to start calling Bavaria or Galicia as “countries” as I believe that term should be reserved for sovereign states, so, outside of special contexts like sport, I won’t refer to England or Scotland as countries either.
Wales and Northern Ireland are just as much “countries” as Scotland and England are. Wales being constitutionally a principality rather than a kingdom has no bearing upon its status, and with a few exceptions such as cricket, the few international organisations that call England and Scotland countries also call Wales a country. Some international organisations (eg ISO) call Northern Ireland a “province”, while others (FIFA, the Commonwealth) call it a “country”.
Sorry man, but you're wrong about that.
This is from the Commonwealth website:-
The UK is a union of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Crown dependencies (the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) are largely self-governing with the UK responsible for their defence and international relations and are not part of the United Kingdom. Link to the page below-
https://thecommonwealth.org/our-member-countries/united-kingdom
The United Kingdom is a Sovereign State, not a country. It remains so at the allowance of the countries involved. That's why the Indyref happened, the population of Scotland voted on whether to leave that political union or not. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland aren't provinces, they're countries that have agreed to be in a political union together which is treated as a sovereign state in world politics.
That's underlined with the Republic of Ireland-From 1801 to 1922, the United Kingdom included the whole of Ireland, but now only includes Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland operates as a sovereign state of its own, although it’s physically close to the UK.

I have said before the U.S should split up. I get the impression that to Americans it's almost unthinkable but to us here the map of Europe gets carved up further, and will continue to do so, every few years as more people demand better representatives in Govt and they want less conflict.
It's a positive that gets you to something you are more happy with and leaves you with a really close relationship with the other part of America.
What America is going through reminds me a little of what has happened to countries in Europe over the years. A country culturally split, people unhappy with ruling figures as they only represent one half of the people etc and eventually they split in 2, represent the people better, have a great relationship with each other and everyone is much happier.
America feels like an old married couple. They know they would be much happier if they did their own thing, but it's also scary and there is a comfort with sticking with what you have, as it's what you already know, even if it makes you unhappy.

I do not personally know many who feel represented by either party. The chaos at least keeps either side from entirely having their own way. It feels like being a kid with two abusive parents who are mostly too busy fighting with each other to come after me. If they were split up and I had to live with one or the other, my life would get a lot worse. I know people who base their votes on whoever they think will most "gum up the works" because they see that as the best available option for minimizing damage.
Ranked choice voting sounds promising; I wish we could try that.

America uses the word state for it's principalities,a state implies a sovereign government.
The old Soviet Union used the term Socialist Republic for it's principalities,a Republic implies a sovereign government.
England was once an Empire and I don't think calling UK principalities a country is altogether unheard of, America does it really.
The word Empire is politically incorrect term people don't want to say it but they exist non the less in Empires not called Empires "ENCE"
Old USSR- ENCE
Russian Federation- ENCE
China-ENCE
USA-ENCE
UK-ENCE
And there may be others that I haven't thought of.
