Hmm.

Since marriage is traditionally between a man and a woman, and it craps on religious beliefs not to have it that way, same-sex "marriage" should be technically referred to as a partnership or civil union. People can call it whatever they like outside the law.

And then face solitary confinement and corporal punishment for 3 years, for being criminal scum.

Who cares what it's traditionally been about?
Marriage was 'traditionally' between people of the same race. It was 'traditionally' about passing on possession of a woman from her father to her husband. Oh well, social attitudes towards these things change, therefore the law changes with it. Legal marriage has nothing to do with religion.

Of course! And I would fully support your getting married, Sopho. :)

DES MOINES, Iowa - Same-sex marriage was legal here for less than 24 hours before the county won a stay of a judge's order on Friday, a tiny window of opportunity that allowed two men to make history but left dozens of other couples disappointed after a frantic rush to the altar.

It appears to be over for now.

*buzz* Wrong.

There are medieval documents that prove that same-sex marriages were performed in medieval France, 600 years ago.

As long as the civil union grants ALL of the rights of marriage, I see no problem with calling same-sex marriage as such. While some may equated it with segregation, I don't see how that could be, and while I am a staunch supporter of fully legalized gay marriage, I celebrate the granting of civil unions all the same.

People that oppose gay marriage but support civil unions have my respect, as they are willing to stand up for what they believe in AND accept that gay people are human too, and shouldn't be hated by the government.

People that oppose civil unions hate gay people. Simple as that.

not to mention that he has it backwards...it should be referred to marriage outside the law if you really want to take that approach to it and refer to it as a civil union within the legal boundaries.

at least...with how our government is set up, it's supposed to work like that to deter the tyranny of religion. i mean look at now with gay "marriage". there's no good reason why they shouldn't be allowed to have a legal union with all the same rights and privileges as straight couples bound together by law. the only reason is religion and the bigotry there-in.

But some of them love the sinner, but hate the sin.

Kinda reminds me when a parent used to beat up their child and saying "This is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you."
