If we are, at least that would give me hope that my life could be reset. I could relive my life over again, and maybe this time I can have a girlfriend, or a family, or achieve financial success, or start a digital nomad career in my 20s. Basically, not be a complete total f**king loser by my 40s.

Problem is, I know there is no evidence for the simulation. It is just an unfalsifiable proposition, like any religion. I can't put my hope in something like that.

Sometimes I think that God is a kid playing SIM Universe. When his mother tells him it's time to come downstairs and eat dinner the simulation will be turned off.

And when is that? I have over 40 years of memories, and there is ample evidence the world existed long before me.

If I live in a simulation why would you draw attention to this by your question?

Maybe the simulation decided it's time for you to know about it.

At the end of our simulation I hope that it’s truly the end or that we evolve to a life of our own choosing.

Or a life of ghosting others. :)

Funny how people who think they're in a simulation always seem to believe everyone else is an NPC and not them, they're the playable character.

We are all puppets in one way or another.

Which explains why life is so weird.

I never made any such assumptions.

I could just be part of the simulation - an NPC as lostonearth35 put it - whose only purpose is to "awaken" you when the time is right. In fact, this post could be generated directly by the simulation for that very purpose.

My point is that you would know whether that is the case or not.

I think this observation applies a lot more to people who throw around the term NPC rather than just people who believe we might be in a simulation.

Of course, a portion of people who view everyone around them as NPCs also believe we're in a simulation, but the two circles don't completely overlap.

The more I hear about Simulation Theory, the more it makes sense...especially how similar it is to reincarnation stories of the afterlife.
But it still doesn't answer the question of "who made us and why are we here?"
And if God made us, who made God?
etc. etc.
Just tiny atoms under the thumbnail of a giant inside of a universe that is a tiny atom under the thumbnail of another giant inside of........ (or however the saying goes)

We just wake up from this simulation and find ourselves inside of a greater reality. Much like reincarnation.

And then ~ten years later, we find ourselves back in this "simulation" trying to reach a higher plane.

The simple answer is that the simulation has been running for thousands of years (at least).
It doesn't stop when you leave, it's like a virtual reality MMO server.

I said that in response to RetroGamer's post that the simulation is just a game some kid is playing. Does this kid only get called to dinner every several thousand years?
