...praying before they eat yet they don't really have the same routine for praying before doing other stuff? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with praying everytime before you eat. But...

Like why not a habit of praying before you drink water? You can live without food for longer periods than water so shouldn't we thank God for that?

Why not thank God for our house everytime before we enter back into our house after going out?

Why not thank God for our car everytime before we drive it?

Whats so special about meals that some Christians have a routine of giving thanks everytime before they eat?

It has to do with believe in God as the provider of all things.

Dumb superstition really.

Apparently this website is anti-Catholic. I guess different Christians have different views of things. Not sure exactly how Catholics practise their faith though.

Good point with your questions. I think a lot of believers tend to be "inwardly thankful" -- though I suppose expressing this outwardly is fine too, particularly if it were over a family meal or in a church setting. So long as the thankfulness is genuine, that's the part that should really matter most.

I don't know what would be more special about it. My family never did that. My mother and sister, and I still don't do it. My extremly Fundamentalist Grandfather doesn't prey at the table either. :? He'll be himself though. 'sigh' We prefer to save it till the end of our day. (I actualy prey rarely, to be honest) I think to prey everytime you enjoy the fruits of your labor would be a little bit of over kill.

Be careful with that word "prey". It leads to all sorts of strange implications.

Me. I drink around 5 litres a day, often more. I love water. I've just emptied 3 750ml bottles in 2 hours. I usually slow down around 9pm.

Usually.

You must have a monstrous bladder. I drink about 3 cups of coffee plus a glass of juice a day and still piss too often. It's a nuisance.

Quite, at some points I find myself in need of the bathroom every ten minutes. Now, for example.

I'm probably ruining my kidney's, but there might be artificial ones for safe by the time I need new ones.

Try switching to decaffeinated coffee.

Also, you may want your prostate checked.

I would think that because water is already a "familiar" component of our being, the body has little trouble absorbing it. Whereas coffee and juice, although in most cases do contain mostly water, also have their added molecules added into them. <.<

As for the strict routine thing, it might be because it gives them the feeling that their religion is intemporal (the whole deal about transcendentality) and that it defines the religion itself. (See : rituals)

this is when I drink anything

I suppose since I have to drink great amounts just to keep on top of myself
my body uses it differently
