A complete role reversal is not going to happen. Men are genetically larger and stronger than women on average. That alone would prevent an actual, full reversal. However, we could see a form of androgyny where women become more assertive and men less so that is not a full polar reversal. Hence, as a socially anxious and passive male, I may be a step forward in Evolution.
It seems only a small percentage of women would currently go for such males, though.
However, it might be, rationally speaking, possible for more and more women to be conditioned to prefer passive males so that it becomes a percentage higher than 50%, but it's not likely ... at least not within our lifetimes.
Well, as the percentage of males increases with those symptoms, then more and more women would have to choose between such males and denying their biological urges, something women (like men) are typically incapable of doing.
The pattern seems to be average-looking women who demand Mr. Perfect in their 20's and then wake up one day in their 30's like "oh s**t! I have wrinkles!" and then they're more likely to date someone who does not have traditionally desirable male traits. The Chinese have a term for this: "sheung nu" or "left-behind woman." They are, if anything, more prevalent in the West. The problem is that Mr. Perfect is a tiny proportion of the population who usually ends up married to Mrs. Perfect.
If this state of affairs were to happen, I would expect to see a lot more older women pairing with younger men whom they never would have dated earlier in life. I personally know a 23-year-old mildly autistic man who is dating a 35-year-old woman who was likely quite attractive 10 years ago.
