What do you think about the ban on the sale of condoms to minors?

Somewhere I read that the Indonesian authorities have banned the sale of condoms to minors.

I am very amused, because if someone thinks that they do not sell condoms to minors, discourage representatives of this age group from making sexual activity is probably a moron, likely will end up on more unwanted pregnancies, and abortions (which are nothing other than infanticide if you ask me.

I think it is better to prevent pregnancy than to perform abortions.

In an ideal world, people would have some self-control to avoid sexual activity until they are ready to accept the responsibility to parent if a pregnancy occurred. Pregnancy should *always* be expected from sexual activity. It is a natural consequence.

"Prevention" should not be trusted, really. It fails often. But, that being said, I think it is a stupid idea to ban the sale of condoms to minors.

"Well, I guess I can't buy condoms, I just won't have sex!" said no hormone-ravaged teen ever.

I can't see what they imagine the upside to be.

Most would still get them, but it would increase the chances for teenage STD's and pregnancy. Also, if a guy can manage to get some p**** you don't think he can manage to get an older friend to buy him condoms? Please. They will get them, but banning it would be ridiculous! Hell, getting them to use them now is a big problem!

Minors will engage in sexual acts regardless of the availability of condoms.

There is no way to prevent underaged sex from happening (although discouraging it is a good idea), so it is better to make sure that it happens safely: make condoms available and educate kids (both male and female) in the proper use of them.

Not only will this reduce pregnancy, reducing the need for abortions, but it will also reduce the prevalence of STDs, which are harder to 'cure' than unwanted pregnancy

now, i'm not saying that condoms should be advertised to kids, but a minor should be able to buy them without too much problems and without being shamed, if he/she wants some

So the rationale here is that the rise in teen pregnancies will be offset by concurrent rise in the deaths of teenagers who cannot afford HIV medication due to the rise in teenaged HIV transmission, then?

If this is something that is happeningin Poland due to the overwhelming Roman Catholic majority there, this is yet another reminder of one thing that I learned in Catholic school when I was a kid, along with the basic elementary school curriculum. --I am NOT a Catholic!! !

There is a movement withing the protestant fundamentalist evangelical denominations called Quiverfull. They teach that birth control is wrong, it's evil and Christians need to have as many kids as possible to serve as "warriors for God" to witness and convert everyone to their brand of Christianity. They Duggars (19 Kids and Counting show on TLC) are Quiverfull. That is not the only unusual thing they teach either. Google them if you want to get a shock to the system.

Yeah, Yeah, Joel's Army seeks to impose and enforce the 'Kingdom of Heaven on Earth' onto all of us sinners by all means necessary including s**ing out their hellspawn offspring at rates that would make cockroaches hang their antennae in shamed awe, due to the fact that even if they squander irreplaceable natural rescources, it's okay due to the fact that the end of the world is coming and they are all going to be raptured by Jesus anyways.

I think it would be very careless and ignorant to do this. They are going to have sex and if they are doing so need to prevent pregnancy.

Whose idea this came from is likely unaware of the fact that STDs and HIV can be caused through unprotected sex, so therefore an idiot and an instant laughingstock.

A better idea might be to inform the minor's parents immediately and not sell the condoms without their consent.

And just where the seller has to know from where they come from and even more where are their parents?

Simple: either the minor tells the seller who their parents are, and the latter confirm it and prove it, and corroborate they're okay with their kid buying condoms, or the seller doesn't sell them any.

Okay, so if a boy but decides to f**k with his girlfriend, she becomes pregnant, and if such underage parents did not decide to murder their unborn child, and let him/her to be born

The question of who will give the money to maintain such a child, because it's not his underage parents who have no regular source of income.
Answer: We all, the whole of society in taxes both indirect and direct. It might be better that minors have unrestricted and anonymous access to contraceptives.

If they need to f**k let them do it at least safely, without risk of accidental pregnancy and venereal diseases.

Cue a flourishing under-the-table market for unwholesome individuals posing as parents.

Prohibition on alcohol, organized crime skyrockets with no difference in consumption.

Prohibition on marijuana, organized crime profits with no difference in consumption.

Why is anyone expecting a positive outcome for this scenario?
