That was the 1920s. This is now. Membership in hate groups like the Klan, while not miniscule, is not in the millions, either. Maybe about 20,000, tops.
People were looking for a change from the Democrats, rather than Trump, per se, in my opinion. People don't seem to be particularly "thoughtful" in this country. This is what I attribute Trump's "success" to, rather than "white nationalism."
There is no doubt that there remains an insidious racism in this country. But to call all Trump supporters "white nationalists" is wrong. Even though Trump was endorsed by known "white nationalists."
Many people were just looking for a "change," not realizing the repercussions.
I don't know any "white nationalists" myself. And I live in a city of almost 9 million people. I do know racists, but no "white nationalists."
I'm not a Trump supporter. Nor was I a Hillary supporter. I'm a believer in multiculturalism.
