Is a revolution going to happen in the US?

My friend says that there is going to be a revolution in the US such as a coup and it's now at the point where it's going to happen and that's inevitable. But is it really going to happen and it's inevitable? I find it hard to believe but maybe I am wrong?

Anymore that kind of thing does not seem so hard to believe, but I'd call it an an insurrection or a coup not a revolution.
But yeah trump being defeated and put out of office does not seem to have sent them back crawling into the woodwork like the cockroaches they are so for sure something is likely coming.

Third parties don't seem to be making much traction.

There does not need to be any armed insurrection. In the states that voted for Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020, where Republicans control the state governments, measures are underway to ensure future elections there go the "right way". "Unqualified" voters are being purged from voter lists. Rules that are believed to make it easier for the "wrong people" to vote are being revised or eliminated. Next year and going forward, voters in these states will need to vote in person on the day of the election, which is a Tuesday when most of them have to work, and some will learn they are not legally registered and can only cast provisional ballots. Everyone will need to produce "Real ID" compliant credentials to be allowed to vote. That won't happen in my state because our state government is controlled by Democrats and is not in play, but of course residents of our state will be subject to the laws of the Federal Government that will be in power beginning in 2023 with the takeover of the Senate and House and in 2025 when Trump or a successor takes over the White House.

Aside from age, why do you believe Biden won’t win a second term?

Why would anybody consider Trump a viable candidate after his shenanigans?

I know it's not me your asking.

However, my question would be more to the point of, Will Biden still be president at the end of his term, or will Harris be?

I believe that Biden won't be re-elected for the reasons I gave previously. I thought that was clear. It has nothing to do with how well he performs as President plus if Republicans take over both houses of Congress in the next election his ability to perform will be severely limited.

If anybody else thinks they understand what I said, perhaps you'd like to put your own spin on it.

Hopefully there will be a massive education campaign by Democrats and progressives, targeted at Democrats who live in pink districts, about the importance of voting in state and local elections. Republican gerrymandering does have an Achilles' heel, which is that achieving it requires there to be at least some pink districts, which are vulnerable.


Unless, some time during the next year or so, Congress declares Election Day to be a national holiday, which is should be.


This will happen if the Democrats and progressives become complacent, which, alas, might happen.

Why do you believe the Republicans will take over both houses of Congress in the 2022 elections?

Again, for the reasons I gave above. BTW you know this happened in 2010 after Obama was elected. So there's a definite precedent.

This is a dynamic situation.....with COVID and all....it can go either way.

I sincerely hope not.

There are several going on now but just not in the traditional ways.

Obviously, we are to seeing the idea of accepting election results and settling issues via elections and legislation rapidly eroding.

Our view of who we are as a country is rapidly changing from one based on or at least the goal of freedom and rights to America's central characteristic from the get-go has been toxic white male supremacy.

The philosophy behind old saying " "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" is quaint at this point.

There is the gender identity social revolution which is worldwide.

I think we're gearing up right now for a cultural revolution.

Civil war or coups? Probably not.

The government is supposed to watch the business landscape to keep the fire in the fire pit. That works until business buys governance. You then have as a check the people watching government but that gets broken down both through rampant misinformation and various methods of overwhelming people with content (like reading a 2000 page bill in a few days), and even there you have an asymmetry of control.

The idea with the media seems to be that they're giving us what we want, and what we want sucks - largely because we (humans) don't have the highest priorities. Seeing this getting to where we're mangling ourselves with the chaos it seems to have hit enough tipping points in the last few years that it's not the majority of people anymore saying that nothing's unusual or out of whack. You're starting to get organized pushback against things like click-bait journalism.

It will be interesting to watch this year and next year to see how this shift goes but, optimistically, I could see this going in a direction where more people have a deeper sense of what they need to watch their own backs on, teach their kids about, and we might be able to move forward in a direction where media isn't a hot mess.
