My only purpose in life has been to learn as much as I can and to keep as free from pain as possible.

What is your purpose if you have one?

To not be a self-serving slug--to actually better things for humanity in general.

My sole purpose in life is to serve as a bad example to others.

Is that supposed to be some sort of joke. You not being selfish?

Better things for humanity? Are you serious?

All people are selfish in one way or another. Are you wealthy? Are you working for the poor in Africa?

If you want to help people so much why are you being insulting on a message board?

And what's so bad about slugs?

You aren't doing that very well, are you?

I think you're a rather good example.

Is there truly any logical purpose?
I remember when I was very young and having anxiety attacks
because of plain ole living and wondering how my life's going to end up.

Anyone else have this problem when they were young?

Part of growing up for me was the uncertainty which AS caused. I didn't really now where I belonged, learning things provided that meaning when nothing else could. I live to learn and for no other reason. Boredom is the most painful thing for me.

I don't know if you can describe this as a "logical purpose".

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm sure you'll find many who will disagree.

I suppose a life commited to helping others would deem itself above all else, but, I don't think I have it in me to "help" other's conventionally.
I can't be the next Mother Theresa.

BTW, I started having those anxiety episodes somewhere around the age of four, did you?

To spread love, peace and kindness and better the world through missionaries or something similar around the whole planet.

My immediate goal is to earn two and probably three degrees: a BS in Computer Science, an MS in Applied Math and quite possibly a Ph.D. in Computer Science

I'm not sure about long-term goals. Unless I find some kind of meaning in life, I'll probably work for the defense industry, developing autonomous weapons and, ultimately, trashing as much of humanity as one man possibly can.

I was a very anxious child. I can remember having a panic attack when my pet rabbit went missing. I was highly sensitive to my environment and I think this may have caused some of this anxiety. I started reading very young and I think retreating into books helped me a lot.

To have a stable liveable life with no money problems, a relactionship and a couple of friends.
I have alot of trouble staying off mmorpgs as i get addicted usually after a day of playing and play for years on end. It's an important goal to stay off of them. Getting a decent house a widescreen tv and a mercedes would also be nice obviously :D.

No, logical purpose does not exist, at least, if one subscribes to the more logo-centric or scientistic philosophies.

Hmm... I had anxiety attacks, not due to purpose so much as stresses though. I started falling into depressions at an early age due to questions of purpose though.

As for my purpose? Madness, the only thing that clings to me still. I do not live as a person who seeks life, but I do not seek death as well. I am animated by something, but I am not animated by something that makes much sense.
