Religon is a very light subject, every religon has a god, a story and theory,
and rules on how you should live your life. It is all lies. How do we know if
they are true? That is the question some people ask themselves a lot.

The truth is out there, we just have to keep searching. Religon will not show
you the truth, it will only lie to you. If there are any atheist's on this site,
please speak your mind on here.

Disclamer: This is my opinion and my own, it does not refect on any
person's comment or theory on this subject. If you are offended by this,
I apologize for anything I have said. I am not forcing my belifes on anyone
of any other religon of such. This topic is not payed by any corperation or
enterprise.

Orwell is our only atheist.

Frankly, our big theists here, Sand and ruveyn, might take major offense to your comments. Hopefully you know your counter-apologetics.

I consider myself an adeist; I do not believe in a godhead or other such figure. I do not believe in the purpose of organized religion. I acknowledge that there is the potential for much more in existence than we are capable of measuring or qualifying, but do not find solace or interest in raw abstraction. Welcome to WP - and welcome to PPR, where there be dragons. *chuckle* Giving fair warning, that's all. If anything, the best definition might be philosophic Taoist; without the trimmings of ritual, I believe that each person has their own way through life, that there is no one-size-fits-all approach or solution, that they must find along the way.

 Now you're just being mean to the n00bs.

Strangeworld, welcome to our even stranger world here in this corner of WP. Contrary to what AG has told you, I am in fact a theist (Protestant Christian). Sand and Ruveyn are probably the two most outspoken atheists, but I think the majority of this board is atheist or agnostic.

There are no atheists on WP... except for those of us that don't believe in god...

Probably ruveyn and I have some agreement as to the existence of God but frankly I doubt either one of us is comfortable with making us a cozy twosome.

Every family always has some obscure uncle that nobody likes.

There is some site regulation here as to personal insults. I would not be happy having a relative that advocated murdering a sizable sector of humanity to feel comfortable with the world. And to characterize necessary funding of government obligations through taxation as thievery is beyond the point of acceptable sanity.

Not true. Don't listen to AG, he just likes to stir things up. There are others. Ragtime and iamnotaparakeet emphatically deny the existence of almost all gods. If you measure atheism by the proportion of gods they deny multiplied by the strengths of the denials, they are in our top ten atheists. Here is the formula:

Atheism score = sum(strength of denial of a potential god)/(number of potential gods)

The strength of denial goes from 0 (certain that this god exists) to 1 (certain that this god does not exist).

The term "god" is also meant to include female or sexless deities or those that are both male and female.

I was brought up Christian until somewhere in my mid-20's one of Christianity's own rules would no longer let me sleep at night:

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

I.e.; "Apply the same standards to myself as I would apply to others. Scrutinize my own beliefs with the same measuring stick I would scrutinize others."

So I did. Why the Christian god and not Zeus or Krishna or the Rainbow Serpent?

In short, all the standards of measure by which I would deem those and thousands of others as myth and superstition, also showed Christianity to be no less mythical. More so in many cases.

This all seems somewhat familiar...

Like perhaps we've broached this topic in the past...

It is as if we are going in circles...

Because we are.

Anyways, I prefer the statement "there is probably no God, and the teachings of the classical Judeo-Christian religions are likely false" to "there is no god". Agnostic ftw.

Eh, it's all in good fun. If I was trying to be a dick I'd post one of those "repost" pictures. Or maybe the one with Capt Picard with head in hands and "not this **** again". I'm just making an observation doll.
