Many times in the Bible when "heart" is mentioned, the actual word that is translated "heart" is actually literally translated "kidneys." They knew enough back in those days that a lot of blood collected around the kidneys, blood representing life, so it was assumed that the seat of the soul was the kidneys.

If you want to be judgmental, you better go after all diabetics and maybe even lupus patients.
