Considering the huge amount of money dumped by the USA on Israel each year I have serious doubts Israel would prefer to be left alone.

Also considering how many UN security resolutions against Israel are blocked by the USA.

The US aid to Israel worth less than a quarter of a monthly salary per person
A neglect able sum in terms of Israeli economy that involves many terms that make it worth even less
Actually most of it goes back to subsidize the US industry and the US needs Israel no less than Israel needs it for many reasons

Israel managed perfectly well until 67 with out the US support
The UN is useless as far as Israel concerned and one can always hope that some day even the corrupt diplomats who run it would grow a conscience or some elementary version of backbone
Did u ever ask your self how come that while civilians get killed all around the world by NATO and the US or Russia and China or any other state it's only when Israel involves the UN is so quick to respond with committees and inquiries
It may seems a bit far fetched considering the unbelievable hypocrisy that drive the international community now days but one can only hope that one day some diplomat would grow some form of moral fiber
who knows
miracle happens
perhapses on day even u do

This source http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf indicates there is an annual US contribution of 3 billion dollars annually to Israel which is the largest contribution to any country. Israel is, of course, free to refuse that contribution at any time. I have not noticed any moves in that direction. And, of course, there is nothing constraining Israel from withdrawing from the United Nations.

Benefits of US aid to Israel exceed cost

There is no economic aid to Israel, other than loan guarantees.

Talkbacks (2)
The argument that American military aid to Israel is damaging to the United States is not only erroneous, it hurts the national security interests of this country and threatens the survival of Israel.

US support for Israel is essential, not only for Israel’s national security, but for America’s. Every bit of that support – and more – withstands all reasonable scrutiny.

Under the 2010 US budget, about $75 billion, $65 billion and $3.25 billion will be spent on military operations and aid in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan during this fiscal year, respectively. Israel will receive $3 billion, in military aid only. There is no economic aid to Israel, other than loan guarantees that continue to be repaid in full and on time.

There isn’t enough space here to discuss the relative merits of the expenditures in these other countries, but we already know the critically important return the US gets for helping its oldest, most trusted ally in the strategically important Middle East – the most powerful military force in that region, the pro-US, pro-West and democratic Jewish state of Israel.

Here’s how.

FIRST, IT’S important to remember that about 70 percent of the $3 billion aid must be used by Israel to purchase American military equipment. This provides real support for US high- tech defense jobs and contributes to maintaining our industrial base. This helps the US stay at the very top in the manufacturing of our own cutting-edge military munitions, aircraft, vehicles, missiles and virtually every defensive and offensive weapon in the US arsenal – with the added contribution of Israel’s renowned technical know-how.

Second, the US and Israel are jointly developing state- of-the-art missile defense capabilities in the David’s Sling and Arrow 3 systems. These two technologies build on the already successful Arrow 2, jointly developed by our two countries, which is already providing missile defense security to Israel and US civilians and ground troops throughout the region. The knowledge the US gains from these efforts also has a positive multiplier effect on applications to other US military and non-military uses and US jobs.

Third, given Israel’s strategic location on the Mediterranean, with access to the Red Sea and other vital international shipping and military lanes of commerce and traffic, it is critically important to the US that Israel continues to serve as a port of call for our troops, ships, aircraft and intelligence operations.

Israel also has permitted the US to stockpile arms, fuel, munitions and other supplies on its soil to be accessed whenever America needs them in the region.

Fourth, America’s special relationship with Israel provides the US with real-time, minute-to-minute access to one of the best intelligence services in the world: Israel’s. With Israeli agents gathering intelligence and taking action throughout the Middle East and, literally, around the world, regarding al- Qaida, Hizbullah, Iran and Hamas, among others, the US receives invaluable information about anti-US and terrorist organizations and regimes.

Fifth, imagine the additional terrible cost in US blood, and the hundreds of billions more of American taxpayer dollars, if Saddam Hussein had developed nuclear weapons, or if Syria possessed them.

Then remember that it was Israel that destroyed the almost-completed nuclear reactor at Osirak, Iraq, in 1981 and Syria’s nuclear facility under construction at Deir-ez-Zor in 2007.

And think about the many operations that Israel’s Defense Forces and intelligence agents have undertaken to foil, slow and disrupt Iran’s efforts to develop a nuclear weapons capability. A nuclear-armed Iran would threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans in the region, all of Iran’s Arab neighbors, the world’s largest oil supplies and those who rely on that oil. It also would provide anti-US terrorists with access to the most lethal Iranian technology and probably set off a nuclear arms race in the region.

FOR ABOUT two percent of what the US spends in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan this year, Americans can take pride in the return on our investment in aid to Israel.

And with Israel’s truly invaluable assistance to America’s vital national security, we can take comfort that – in actions seen in Tehran and Damascus and noticed by al-Qaida and other anti-US terrorists everywhere – the US is safer and made more secure because of the mutually dependent and beneficial relationship between the US and Israel.

The writer is a Democratic congressman from New Jersey who serves on the House committees responsible for US military and foreign aid.

BTW
Egypt get larger aid than Israel and return nothing

Y'know, i wonder how come Nara44 only shows up in threads regarding Israel, with a total post count of 433, it seems s/he's around here for just that... <.<

Besides, the lack of proper grammar makes me doubt the age that he is claiming to have. =/

Third argument is kinda bull, seeing as the US have bases (even temporary ones) outside Israel, need i mention Afghanistan or the rest of the similar Middle-East countries? No, i thought not.

Fifth argument are only "what if"s.

Considering that the IDF was chased out of Lebanon and it shot itself in the foot on it's latest piracy exploit it seems the Israeli intelligence is not much better than that of the US which missed the 9-11 event although it had clear warnings and of course it was completely surprised by the collapse of the USSR. Israel gets more aid than Egypt and Egypt is getting paid off as a bribe and gift to Israel to maintain the blockade of Gaza.

With all their intellect and technological expertise if all the Israelis can manage is to build themselves a walled ghetto in center of a sea of flaming hate the Middle East they don't come off as being particularly astute.

1:that's not true,i commented on other subjects which have nothing to do with Israel and are at the core of autistic existence,is just that i didn't find many partners here to the way i see and feel autism so i gave it up,though in private i git some very encouraging and touching reactions/

2: not your damn business, besides i have trouble expressing myself properly at my native language too,in case u didn't notice some autistics have difficulties with spoken language,i draw very well and speak many programming language fluently but because i seldom speak to ppl i don't have proper language skills, perhapses it the other way around

3:Personally i think we are much better without the Americans, and i'm not the only one here,or around the world, that feels that way, i just wanted to correct a common error regarding the real value of american aid to Israel,"There is no economic aid to Israel, other than loan guarantees. " /

I find it interesting that while u justifiably examine very closely every thing coming from Israel u take with out second thought the wildest improbable lies and unbased propaganda
U can't have a real intellect with out honesty or integrity ,that's why u greatly lacks both.

Well,That's not entirely depend on us,can't u comprehend even this simple truth, u can be the smartest and the nicest man around but as long as people around u don't share your outlook u bound to live in a ghetto,
I'm sure most autistics are very painful aware of this simple and painful truth and many AS get blamed by the people abusing them because tier different set of values and remarkable talents begets hate

I'm sure there are some extraordinarily bright Israelis as there are in all cultures but to intimate they are all geniuses who are terribly misunderstood indicates an extremely distorted view of the nation. As I pointed out before, when an entire nation starts assuming they are superior to the rest of the world they quickly find themselves in deep trouble as the rest f the world becomes rather sensitive at being allocated to the less developed class of primates. It's an unnecessary challenge to existence and rather obviously stupid.

Let's not go to far,it's not to difficult to understand that a democracy having a different set of values then less liberal and open forms of government might find great difficulties at coexistence with them as t messages and intentions from one value system are bound to get misinterpreted while crossing to the other ,
u must have heard it before as i'm not the first person to notice such obvious truth.
Israel r not geniuses but the situation of Israel in the ME can be comparable to that of a geek in a school yard.
Problem is ,this geek ,having been beaten to death for thousandths of years has finally learned how to fight and a geek that's fight back is something society is not ready to tolerate yet

So therefore that Israel not only originally threw the original inhabitants off their land but continuously today evicts original inhabitants in favor of Jews has nothing to do with the bitterness of the original inhabitants. The are merely nasty bullies that can't stand geeky Jews. I am beginning to comprehend your outlook.

The original inhabitants were the Canaanites, the Jebusites, the Hivites, the Hitites, the Girgashites, and the Amorites. Yes. These ancient people were pushed out by the Israelites about 3000 years ago. The arab speaking peoples referred to loosely as the Palestinians are not original dwellers in the land. They came in when the Ottoman Turks took over the land back in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Before that it was the Syrians. And way back the land was conquered by the Romans.

In relatively recent time the Zionists purchased land for cash from the Turks prior the the Great War. It was very bad land (not properly kept up) and the Turks were only too glad to sell it for cash to these crazy Jews, who fooled everyone and made the land bloom once again. When Mark Twain toured the Holy Land back in 1885 the population was less than 150,000. The land had gone to ruin and supported very few people. When the Zionists made the land grow again it became a magnet for other people to come and make a living there. Now there are over three million Jews in the land and even more non-Jews.
