Maybe he can now be put into a rest home, where he'll die demented and in obscurity.

I think that a very good case can be made that Mormons do add to the Bible wrong teachings. But mainstream religion teaches that if you are not in a monogamous relationship then you are a sinner damned to hell. So that means that a lot of the hero's in the Bible are just a bunch sex criminals that deserve hell. Now if the religious right were more reasonable we wouldn't the extremes of Mormonism that came about through persecution.

I don't relish the idea of becoming a Mormon but there are worse things.
I'd much rather live in a predominately Mormon country and be one myself than have the US become communist.

Is that because of the polygamy?

I think a lot of men feel like they are jerks if they want 2 wives.

The Mormoms did away with polygamy over 100 years ago.
Besides, anyone who would want more than one wife deserves them and all the associated hen pecking and whatnot.....

Well, with the exception of the odd, fundamentalist Mormon sects here and there.

The main Mormon church only abandoned polygamy because of pressure from the US government. If Romney had been elected, and we were to become a Mormon country, then chances are that polygamy would become the law of the land.

That is true. Utah became a state under the condition that polygamy would be made illegal.. The story of polygamy began with the love affair between Jacob and Rachel. Leah not wanting to become an old maid or forced to marry an unbeliever claimed her birth right which meant that the oldest sister would marry first. However Rachel claimed that a man had the right to marry the woman that he loved so why should Rachel be the old maid or forced to marry an unbeliever?

Some Mormons that I have met do not read the book of Mormon and some Mormons do not even have a copy of the book of Mormon. These Mormons simply read the Bible.
