My very first girlfriend spoke Chinese and German, as well as bits and pieces of a few other languages, though I'm not sure which she learned first. really didn't expect that.
I spoke passable Japanese at one point, but I never used it and lost the ability, which was really too bad, I was very interested in it in my younger days. I didn't find it that difficult, the phonetic pronunciation made things easier for me, and I found that if I spoke it with what I thought a Japanese accent sounded like, it actually came out pretty good.
