If you don't try to see the whole picture and instead go along with the subversion of the subversion... of events that your interest group has, then you are really dealing with mythology and not the world. To suggest that loyalty my kind, country, religion or whatever should take precenence over fact does a disservice to everyone. OK have sympathy with, defend within the facts, etc, but you still have to find out what is going on in the first place. I never liked mythology and would rather make my own mind up about things.

LOL

not a great deal, i fear. it's taken me 43 years to be me (with constant updates and retraining, before you accuse me of being a dinosaur ;) ). i tend not to take things personally anymore, as it's more likely to be the other person's "stuff". when it IS personal, and affects me, then i have to analyse and examine what my "stuff" is in the situation, and then go off and try to sort it out. just so you know it's my training and experience rather than your ineptitude ;)

this is me. don't try to change my opinions by doing an SWP and shouting at me. give me a debate. i do try to be open minded.

why do you want to feel like a big man? and i should avoid belittlement, as it diffuses your (hitherto interesting and thought-provoking) arguments.

that any help?

I don't claim to see it, but I do claim to look for it.

and i dont i suppose. I believe in keeping things in proportion (im not planning on lynching anyone or hiding under my bed from fear of attack) but if you dont like people deabating things and having different opinions from you then i advise you stop reading this thread instead of telling everyone else what to do or think.

? I genuinely dont know what SWP stands for apart from the abbreviation for the socialist workers party. Please tell me what it means instead of going on the attack. I even typed SWP into the search engine and it came up with the same thing as me.

Eamonn if I wanted to have a go at you personally, i'd PM it. I don't want to.
I'd like people to make more of an effort to find out about things before making their minds up about anything and even then to keep a bit of an open mind.

Oh so i suppose you know more than everyone else here. Even if you do there are biased people with a lot of knowledge to. You dont get to be a leader of any faction unless your suitably knowledgable and biased.(excluding George Bush who is a bit thick). Stop trying to force your opinion on others please.

I don't rate myself as particularly bright. I TRY to be fair, but lack of trust is what really motivates me I suppose.
What was this thread about?

Unless you meant Stupid White Person in which case you were being racist.

I've been offline for a couple of days due to being out of town but I'm pretty appalled at how this thread has degenerated in the meantime

tom wrote:
I just find it funny to see any white Brit trying to wear "ethnic" clothes, whether it's muslim dress, buddhist robes, gangsta rapper clothes etc.

eamonn wrote:
They are probably looking for attention. Most british pakistani muslims dont wear traditional muslim dress so any white brit that does most likely is sick and tired of being an average joe and wants to feel special

response 1.

look, it doesn't really matter what these guys say, I know what I'm about, I'm confident in what I'm doing, I know it's a bit different but it's the choice I've made and it makes no difference what other people think

response 2:

why should I put up with this? I've told them some stuff about what I believe and I've told them I sometimes wear Islamic dress and still they go and show me no respect and think their pathetic narrow-minded little world is the one everyone else has to live in and why should I just sit here and let them get away with it, here of all places on WP, where in most respects I feel really safe? why should I have to feel like a freak, god knows I spend my life feeling like a freak, can't I expect a bit of acceptance and respect for differences here? I don't mind being challenged and I think you can see that I can put a case to stick up for what I believe in but personal attacks are just not acceptable and given what I've shared about myself so far I'm afraid that's how I'm taking the quotes above until I can see some good to reason to believe otherwise.

Ok sorry. Seeing as your white and a muslim i can see how you took it personally.Though i think you are being a little disrespectful also when you say it doesnt matter what these guys say and pathetic little world we live in but i understand you would be riled up when posting.

I stand by my comment about those Harri Krishna guys though. They should collect money from their own members with their own beliefs instead of being one of the many guys that are in peoples faces trying to get money out of them in the city centre.
