Somehow I never pictured Raptor with a Kalashnikov girl, always figured he'd go for the all American AR or German HK types.

Interestingly, they claim that based on the story of Onan, which says no such thing. God orders Onan to commit genocide, but instead Onan substitutes one rape but mitigates it by casting his seed on the ground. As I recall it, the problem was failing to correctly wage holy war and utterly annihilate the enemy women and children. It probably makes a better story the way they tell it, though.

Genesis 38 wrote:
1 Now it came about at that time that Judah was demoted by his brothers, and he turned away until [he came]
to an Adullamite man, named Hirah.
2 And there Judah saw the daughter of a merchant named Shua, and he took her and came to her.
3 And she conceived and bore a son, and he named him Er.
4 And she conceived again and bore a son, and she named him Onan.
5 Once again she bore a son, and she named him Shelah, and he (Judah) was in Chezib when she gave birth to
him.
6 And Judah took a wife for Er, his firstborn, named Tamar.
7 Now Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the eyes of the Lord, and the Lord put him to death.
8 So Judah said to Onan, "Come to your brother's wife and perform the rite of the levirate, and raise up progeny
for your brother."
9 Now Onan knew that the progeny would not be his, and it came about, when he came to his brother's wife, he
wasted [his semen] on the ground, in order not to give seed to his brother.
10 Now what he did was evil in the eyes of the Lord, and He put him to death also.

The actual sin is debated. Some believe the sin was that he deprived his brother of descendants. Others believe the sin was that he knowingly engaged in sexual activity that could not result in procreation. Others believe the sin was that he wasted his sperm in general. But I'm not concerned with the actual reason in this verse because there are other verses in which men who have nocturnal emissions are unclean, and verses which would prohibit activities that would lead to emissions outside of sanctioned sexual relationships.

Wow. I wonder how I got that source mixed up. It's been a while.

They almost want to do what you suggest, since the definition of abortion now includes oral contraception and IUDs. If it prevents a fertilized egg from implanting in the womb, that is philosophically equivalent to an abortion to the pro-lifers. That's why I maintain the right of the woman to get that thing out of her body on demand. What the hospital is required to do with it after that is no longer any concern of hers. Some people won't like that, but I see it as trying to have your cake and eat it too. Take responsibility or else give it up. So, if the fetus people want to pay to save all the fetuses, let them.

Then there's the version in which Onan's sin was possibly endangering the genetic line leading to Christ, as the Hebrew population was doubtlessly very small at the time, and risked extinction. That said, it seems counterproductive for God to eliminate a source of y DNA like Onan.
Personally, I think the guy just happened to die, and the early Hebrews, seeing God's hand in everything, figured he was being punished for pulling out and whacking it sometime before he kicked the bucket. But that doesn't mean that was the real reason why he did die, or if there was a reason at all.

Ma told me last night that Trump will be addressing Congress tonight at 8 pm! Mark your agendas and set your watches and your cell phones! AND don't forget you're munchies! It should make for a drama - filled evening!

Gotta get my homework done - this is going to be so much fun! (Hey that rhymed!)

Below is a photo that I took back in January, 2010 when I attended the March for Life in Washington, DC.
Thank you for inspiring me to post my photo.

I consider the child on the sign a person.

I don't consider any of these people...

As I previously said, they are stages in human development that have the potential to become people. The fact that they could become people is good enough for some to feel that first trimester abortions should be banned, but then why stop at undifferentiated cells? Why not also consider human eggs and human sperm people, and ban women allow eggs to go unfertilized, and men from wasting sperm (to this end, I would like to point out to the religious individuals here that the bible does indeed condemn men for ejaculating outside of a female, for whatever reason).

My definition of person centers around differentiation and development of the brain. No brain, no person, so while I personally would not get an abortion, and think women should seriously consider other options, I don't believe first trimester abortions should be banned, and I believe that limiting a women's access to abortions actually increases second trimester abortions, because women have to drive farther and come up with more money, which takes time, when they cannot easily obtain first trimester abortions locally.

As for third trimester abortions, most people will point out that most of these are not actually abortions, but early deliveries, that are often done when the mother can no longer safely carry the fetus/baby to term, or when there are twins and one of them has become a threat to the other's life, or when the baby has died in the womb, or when there is a severe fetal abnormality that excludes the possibility of life outside of the womb.

"Why not also consider human eggs and human sperm people, and ban women allow eggs to go unfertilized, and men from wasting sperm. "

Because on their own they are incapable of producing life.

That's all I'm saying about the subject.

Back to more exciting things - like President Trump!

That's an interesting argument. Something for me to think about for sure.

First line of entertainment; the address itself.

Following line of entertainment; liberal media flipping out over it.

I think he's just getting swept up in all the astronomical media hype and sensationalism.

All of this is happening early in the Trump presidency, because right now hype, obsession and paranoia are at their peak.

And ironic seeming Bush get caught up in the Trump version of Bush derangement syndrome.

Power is nothing new to a 70 year old tycoon who ran his own personal empire for 40 years.

I think when a guy like Bush speaks about Trump's treatment of the media, there should be some listening going on, especially within the Trump camp.

Bush is no bleeding-heart liberal--trust me!

What about the media's treatment of the President? The President has been viciously attacked practically on an hourly basis by certain media before he even took office. Thousands of hit pieces. They are totally out of control and deserve to get admonished for it.

He's still doing things which threaten, at least, the perception of "freedom of the press." This is fundamental to our Constitution. The lack of a free press in the 18th century was a paramount reason why the US separated from Great Britain in the first place. Freedom of the Press is intrinsic to American values.

All Presidents have been viciously attacked by the media---some much more severely than what is happening to Trump.

Cooperation, compromise, and artfulness with the media---and the acknowledgement that opposition is inevitable---and essential in a republic/democracy--will benefit Trump.

Why don't the prolifers on here put their money where their mouth is.Any of you adopted or taken in a foster kid?Why not?You care so much about a few cells but nothing for the kids once they are born. Why don't you have a foster kid? Maybe becuse you just don't want to be bothered with one, doesn't fit into your plans.Well guess what, you are no better than the woman that has an abortion for the same reasons. If you truly gave a s**t about the kids, you'd do something real for them instead of worrying so much that a woman has a clump of cells that aren't even a child yet aborted.Adopt,be a foster parent, show you really care and it's just not lip service.Don't say oh I have a job,I can't take care of a kid.Well, you are expecting the same of single mothers.
