The reasons given by the council were perfectly clear and were unrelated to it being a flag or any representation of a flag.
The colours and shapes were wrong. They were out of place for that area. The whole design was too big and too visually busy.

Did anyone else actually comment on this, anyone who is actually normal rather than some Blockleiter from Fylde Council? Had anyone actually complained about the signage? I bet you one person complained, and they were probably from the council or some other busybody.

How about piccies of the sign before the cooncil stuck their oars in?

Irrelevant.
What was there fell foul of the regulations - in just the same way as a 30-foot bright orange flashing display saying "CHIPPY" would.

Ah, but did people actually complain about the sign? If it was actually an eyesore, fair enough, but I bet it wasn't. And your comparison is not valid without evidence.

What I'm saying is that the regulations might well be overly restrictive, but there's no opposing them. No, I'm sure more arbitrary rules are being thought up as we speak. Might as well try to hit the moon with your piss than oppose them.

I wouldn't say that - it's just pointless regulations that make everyone's lives that little bit more unbearable.

Off with their heads!

:lmao: Oh do get a grip, man. There's nothing about a 30-foot bright orange flashing display saying "CHIPPY" that has anything to do with the British identity.
And really? Displaying a Union flag with a St. George flag on either side to advertise a damn chip shop is what counts for British identity these days?
Give me strength...

It's a bit more complicated than that, though, what with that place being so polarised but that said, a lot of people up there just love being offended.

Have you been to Northern Ireland?

The implementation of regulations has nothing to do with complaints, as such, and more to do with maintaining standards. It's part of maintaining (in this case) the cohesive identity of a village. Or doesn't that part of it matter?

If it was anything like the one pictured in the article I suspect it probably was.

Rubbish - it would fall foul of the regulations for the same sort of reasons as the council has already given.

The memo said the aim was to 'allow reasonable flexibility whilst retaining a professional response to our customers, both internal and external'.

It said there should be 'no displaying of flags in any LCC vehicle, no displaying of flags in any LCC building and no football shirts to be worn by staff at work'.
It's a place of work with a corporate identity to maintain; it's not a football supporters' club.
They very likely wouldn't allow staff to turn up dressed in gold sequins and ostrich feathers either.

I can't be arsed to pick the others apart but I'd probably summarize it all by asking that you really, really need to wave a bit of coloured cloth about and join in tribal chants to feel a sense of pride for your country or its achievements? That's really very odd and makes no sense to me.

no, i care nothing for the flag - you just assume.

the point of the thread is about MC. i just pointed out one small, tiny way in which the british people lose out to the UNNEEDED immigrants coming in. there are hundreds of other ways in which the british people are losing out, being silenced and slowly being screwed by the government.
