Embracing a sense of moral superiority, as did the Nazis.

Some on the left are cancelling people who simply have a different opinion.
Ricky Gervais is no threat to humanity, in my book.

Why not pose that question to a jewish person if Germany adopting nazism had a silver lining

You seemed to be ill-informed.
The communists persecuted the Jews also.

The 1917 Russian Revolution overthrew a centuries-old regime of official antisemitism in the Russian Empire, including its Pale of Settlement.[1] However, the previous legacy of antisemitism was continued by the Soviet state, especially under Joseph Stalin. Antisemitism in the Soviet Union reached new heights after 1948 during the campaign against the "rootless cosmopolitan", in which numerous Yiddish-writing poets, writers, painters and sculptors were killed or arrested.[2][3] This culminated in the so-called Doctors' plot, in which a group of doctors (almost all of whom were Jewish) were subjected to a show trial for supposedly having plotted to assassinate Stalin.[4]

The communist removed masses of people from conquered countries and brought them to the gulags where I high proportion of them died.

Quote:
Population transfer in the Soviet Union was the forced transfer of various groups from the 1930s up to the 1950s ordered by Joseph Stalin. It may be classified into the following broad categories: deportations of "anti-Soviet" categories of population (often classified as "enemies of workers"), deportations of entire nationalities, labor force transfer, and organized migrations in opposite directions to fill the ethnically cleansed territories.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Populatio ... viet_Union

It has been assessed that stalin murdered around 20 million.

Quote:
In 2017, Professor Stephen Kotkin wrote in The Wall Street Journal that communism killed at least 65 million people between 1917 and 2017: "Though communism has killed huge numbers of people intentionally, even more of its victims have died from starvation as a result of its cruel projects of social engineering."[ac][37]

Extrapolate those figures to include the entirety of Europe.

Ricky Gervais is a comedian and while there may be some people offended by his (and other comedian's) jokes most lefties don't agree they should be held accountable. Do you watch black comedians pepe? Dave Chapelle and Kevin Hart were cancelled because of their humor but its funny you never hear right wingers bemoaning their cancellation (perhaps they are the wrong colour).

Curiously the great champion of free speech Mr Trump tried very hard to cancel SNL and Alec Baldwin but I guess that doesn't fit the narrative huh

This reminds me of a short story about a time traveler I read once.

He was from the mid-21st century. In his reality, a nuclear world war broke out in the 1980s, leaving most of the planet in total post-apocalyptic anarchy. Only a few underground military institutions still existed, and they somehow invented a time machine.

The main character was given the task of killing the American president who initiated the nuclear war to prevent the whole nightmare from ever happening. But rather than go back to the 1980s, the main character went back to the 1930s to kill the baby before he could grown up to become president in the first place.

He accomplished his job and tried to go back to his own time, but was only able to get to early 2000s, where he shared his story and said his mission was a success. Charles Lindbergh, Jr never grew up to become president and launch a nuclear war. He said he felt sorry for the handyman who was blamed for the murder, but it was a small price to pay.

There are many hypothetical frameworks to address this question but to answer it more generally no I wouldn't.

I think his existence was a net negative to the world and if he were to pass away before taking power, I would certainly not have minded that. But I wouldn't personally kill him, nor would I mind if someone else were to kill him instead.

However if there had been some other way to keep him around but to prevent him from doing anything harmful that would be fine by me. I'm just not sure if his death would be the only feasible solution.

Chaos theory predicts that a the beating of a butterfly's wings can cause hurricanes across the other side of the globe. By deleting the existence of one individual (however noble the intention) it can have unforseen repurcussions/consequences worse than the events the person was trying to fix.

Yep. And it could possibly work the other way around. That's the point of the fictional story. In the real world, we can picture the evils of people like Hitler and Stalin. We can only picture the Lindbergh baby as an innocent victim. But what if...

In the story, they decided the future was so horrible, it was worth taking the risk of making it worse to possibly make it better. I think you missed the point.

We really don't know how much better/worse/same a Hitler-free world would be. We can only speculate. Maybe your parents met during WW2 and in an alternate reality, there was no war and you weren't born. But at the same time, the alternate world is a better place. It's a food-for-thought story.

You are jumping to conclusions, again.
I wasn't defending what the Nazis did.

I wish people would adopt a neutral perspective rather than always having/seeing an agenda.
Could it be you are projecting?

In order to approach the Truth, objectivity is essential.
Being emotionally invested distort reality.

In order to foster a neutral mindset, the desire to achieve it is first required and then discipline is developed over time.
In order to foster a partisan mindset, emotional indulgence is all that is needed.
It isn't rocket surgery.

If I understand you correctly, you are playing the race card.
"Progressives" are known for that.

Nice double entendre in regard to 'Black' humour, though.

Poor example.
Trump not liking himself being lampooned to satisfy left-wing amusement?
Trump not liking being mocked?
Who would have thought?

I found it hilarious, but then I am a right of centre centrist.

Also, Trump is not a standard I would embrace.

I am not as black and white as you are.
It is predominantly the 'woke' side of politics who are into the cancel culture.
Refer to the recent statue incident, as an example.
Even Lincoln was maligned.

I am an intellectual.
I added a dimension to the thread.

People are talking about killing baby Hitler because of the consequences he brought into the world.
Why is it unreasonable to consider what might have happened had baby Hitler been killed?

This is a philosophical discussion, and the consideration of the consequences of killing baby Hitler is worthy also.
It is bizarre to me that you can't see the logical progression of the discussion.

I.E.
Kill baby Hitler and all is well?
Really?
But who would have filled the vacuum in those turbulent times?
What would be the consequences of that murderous act?

Would it not be better to go back in time and kill the baby versions of all those responsible for the Versailles Treaty?
But then, who would have replaced them?
And so it goes.

Well you could throw the baby out with the bath water.ooopsy.
Or let a cat sit on baby Hitler and Burke him.
Place large fluffy pillows in the crib and lay lil’ Hitler face down.
Smoke heavily around the baby and blow it in Hitlers face.
Give him a recalled choking hazard pacifier.
Leave in car on hot day.
Leave near dingos.
Slather Hitler in bacon grease ad leave in woods in bear country.
Use baby to scotch a tire.
